Anyone know if the delay can be changed or disabled for the interior lights? When I get out of the car and want to turn on the alarm the system thinks the door is still open because the lights are still on and on occasion it will not lock the doors or arm the alarm because of it.Ultimately I would like to tie the overhead light delay in with the driver side seat switch so it only delayed IF someone were sitting in the seat so that you have time to get your keys into the ignition, etc. But for now I would like to have it just on/off with the door switch.Anyone?

You may be right, that might be the best method. But is the door open indicator active when the ignition is off? I will have to check it out later and see.I will also have to see if the door open indicator has different outputs for different doors. I would have to link to all of the indicators but keep them isolated so the signal for one door does not flow through the alarm and back into the rest of the indicator lamps (if there are more than one in the car, I have never noticed) which means using diodes. I will also have to find out if the trigger for the alarm is ground or voltage based, etc. So it might not actually be an easy switch.I have to find the wiring instructions for the system but I thought it was working off the negative trigger for the door switch and if so then the car is holding that ground for a set time to keep the light active.Have to look up all the information, it's too speculative right now.Still, the easiest thing would be to disable the time delay on the overhead light if the car has the ability to do so.I was hoping for a feature setting like with the seat belt beep.Quote, originally posted by GMJAP »Sounds like the easiest solution would be to wire the alarm system to the door open indicator, and not the dome light.Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but if you're gonna mess with wiring that's tied into the alarm system (ie dome light), why not just fix the alarm wiring?
The door open indicator light on the dash is alwasy active, and is lit by any of the doors being open. It is turned on by a common grounded connection, so you should be able to tie into that one point. If you need help finding wires, let me know (i can try to find something in the service manual).
