I'm doing some research on a possible mod and have not a clue were to begin actually. Brands, prices... estimate of gains? Available on the base or just the GT?Yes I used search which got me a pile of "use the search" threads lolSo yeah... shoot me some info.

sweet thanks for the post. $260 isn't bad but I wonder what shipment to alaska would be. And if it goes well with a magnaflow exhaust... I got one here for my car waiting to be put on.

I think it would be fine with magna flow as i thought there was still a down pipe, that wasnt replaced by the header or exhaust sytem, you can order a performance down pipe as well.
The headers are said to give 5-9hp on NA cars. More of course with the SC. here is the mid pipe info from a group buy a while agohttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=16399There seems to be two headers that I know of for the 1zz, the DC and JP ones.
try doing a header swap from boosted2.0 on nc.org....the header for GT is the same for the vibe 1zz, i think. the header is the same for the 2zz, i know...i ported my header a couple weeks ago and i love it...much more low end. boosted2.0 shows a dyno gain of up to 10hp for the 2zz below 6000rpmanyways, heres the linkhttp://www.newcelica.org/forum...04266
Well I have actual result for a dyno with the mods that you want to do, ie Ingen CAI, DC Sport Header and Magnaflow Exhaust they add 15HP to the wheels that is for the GT though to the HP with the mods is 175 at the wheels. Pontiac says 180 but that is not true is 180 to the flywheel. Overall the power is great. You can get a good price on a header from neverenuf.com i got mine for 280 shipped the header by it self adds about 3.3HP.
Do not use a header made for a Celica GT!!! First, the Celica O2 sensor is located below the header, so you'll have to have one installed in the header.Second, The Celica header is slightly bent toward the drivers side so the header and the down pipe wont line up like they should and will leak exhaust from the donut gasket.Trust me! Been there, done all that.I'm now getting some flex pipe put in and a new metalic core cat. next Tues. Hopefully that should fix the leaks once and for all!

hmmm 260 eh?? i may have to finally get one... i actually already have a header but i need a new flange for it because dumbass welded one that was too small on it

boosted2.0 on nc.org seems to have a sweet deal, for 110 (1zz) plus shipping is half the cost of buying a new header. the dyno's he has show a big increase too. I might consider this over a new header, so ill have to keep my eyes out for a used one....
he is looking for the base vibe. the header is different afaik. when i researched this previously for my 03 2zz, the headers that come on the 2zz are just about as good as they get. only a port and polish would have done something. the base headers are different and could be improved. but how much improvement for how much money? it costs almost 2-3 time MORE to ship anything up here, especially on a vehicle that WILL be replaced within 2 years for a turbo'd vehicle. if all it does is add MAYBE 3-5 hp on the base engine, to spend the $400 shipped doesn't seem like the best. better to put that $400 towards the purchase of an STI (imo but that doesn't matter anyways)
bah you need to have fun NOW not later in a better faster cooler awd turbo fast sexy car... hahahh jk. i forgot you guys are in alaska shipping is expensive up there i guess the guy from that forum was doing base headers for 110 labor and whatever shipping was. fairly cheap but not sure what it would be to ship to alaska from texas.

If the shipping wasnt bad, you can order one from the guy in texas and he will ship you one already ported and then you ship your core back and get a refund of some money. They have dyno's of the 1zz celica's before and after the header port and it gains the most from it. just read through the thread on nc.org.

(sans port and polish)if i was mav, i would keep the vibe and turbo the hell out of it! beef that engine up so it can handle the boost! still cheaper than a new car!

No... see I'm not about to spend a lot of money on something to make my car fully tuned up to what something else is stock. I got my heart set on an STi but thats 2 years off. So yes its one thing to say "Just tune up what you have and keep it" if your still in a faster car anyway. But I'm not competetive that way. I'm constantly reminded how little my canadian Vibe is worth up here so why spend money on it that won't increase its value anyway. With the stuff the wife is doing to her car, she's keeping it for a long time. I am up first for the next new car in the family. Unless she totals hers before hand...But like I said, I was doing research. I haven't had the Vibe as long as some other people so forgive me if I wasn't researching this back in 2002.Since the header seems to be a lot more money then the gains... forget I asked about it.As for the bike comment... what the heck really. I do not like bikes, would never ride a bike, has never said I wanted a bike and certainly never mentioned the word "bike" in this thread before. And since I also just lost a friend to a bike/truck accident (he being on the bike) only enforces my "I DO NOT WANT A BIKE!" decision.
