Driver Door/Window rattle.

Post by csharrigan »

Since my car was new (2005) I have had some sort of rattle/squeak/movement noise in the driver door. At first thought I assumed it were something to do with the door gasket not placed perfectly, but now I am completely positive its nothing of the sort, and possibly something loose in the door panel. However, as it is warmig up outside I had my window open, and noticed at highway speed that the window shakes and gets moved around by the wind... seems a little ridiculous for a new car. Has anyone else had this problem? is it normal? what else could be causing the noise if it is normal?I don't feel like having the dealer rip it apart if no solution exists and its the nature of the design (hopefully not).Chris

Just my $0.02... The windows suck! If you push it from the outside in, you can put just about anything down the window!Road noise is a definate... my feelin is the window is not really sturdy or secure to the window sills. I have manual windows and doors so it sucks really bad... my fiances 06 is power and doesnt have it as bad as mine!Good luck and if you find a way to fix it.... POST IT!!!

The car was at the dealer today for the annoying starting issue, while it was there I mentioned the door rattle, and they ordered a "door set" for the repair. Anyone know what this is?

Wasn't "door check" was it? I wonder if it's that same piece of crap part that gets messed up on these cars all the time... That's what I'm waiting for to get fixed on my clunker.

That's some sort of cheap little flimsy piece of metal that keeps the door from opening too far. When it gets bent, then it starts giving issues with the window including but not limited to bad noises and shattering of the glass. It's a high quality design there! Be careful with these windows that are making noise... Probably best to not use them. I haven't been able to use my driver's side window for over 2 weeks now, and I can't use the passenger's side either since it's now broken.,

I really don't care, if it didn't rattle I would hope that it shattered to cost them more--since they can't get my car to start normally.

lol! It would have been nice if the dealer would have made my window shatter, since the tint has become torn from the window getting in a bind. THat way I wouldn't have had to worry about scraping it all off the glass before it gets redone.
