During and after installation

Post by Merzbow »

So, the hood, beleive it or not went on with minimal problems or fabrications.1)Remove insulation from underside of stock hood (impossible not to break the clips so don't even bother trying.2)Remove rubber weather stripping at front of hood (also near impossible to do without breaking them) Also remove washer nozzles and hoses3)loosen and remove two bolts on either side from hood brackets.4)Take hood off and line up new hood5)thread bolts on loosely until hood is adjusted and spaced evenly on both sides6)Tighten all four bolts and test hood to close7)Install washer nozzles8)test latches hold and pop open hood alot to test it further9)Stand back and enjoyPage 8 on my cardomain has pictures during installation at varies stages http://www.cardomain.com/ride/541918HERE are the picks installed...Car was filthy this weekend so I only have a few crappy shots in the rain and a couple after I washed it today. I will get more later. Cardomain is MESSED up right now so I can't see what other pics I uploaded...Overall I personally am xtremely happy with the hood and all that. The hardest part was filling the holes fir the washer nozzles. Other than that it was easy to isntall and looks soooooooooo bad@$$ I think. It looks WAAAAAAY better in person than in a picture though.A "stray" pic-->

A classic action pic of me exploding one of the stupid clips holding the insulation on.The odd face was my reaction as pieces shot into my face and all over the garage and inside of the stocl hood.

Looks good, Paul! So far looks like I'm the only one who got screwed. I called Fri but too late so they were closed. Left a message and sent them an email with pics. We'll see if they get back to me today and what they say. TBHWY, I really wanted the CF look, but I was also considering painting it to match. We'll see what they say.

I would definately get one in the future if it didn't have that dent in it.. like a stock replacement.. how much difference is it in weight??but besides that it looks good!

I bought the proto type. It was cheaper because there are a few TINY flaws in teh clear coat. One right in middle of scoop looks like someone poulled a hair out of it when it was drying. I thought it would be noticable but you cant see it, not even up close. and inside the scoop the clear is screwed up but my friend is a god at painting and body work so he is going to re-clear it for me for like $40.It cost me about $460.28 shipped to my dad's work.To give an idea of how light it is, I was swinging it around by myself with ease. I could carry it with one hand underneath just using hte other to balance it so it's pretty darn light.

More pics after a wash!Fun story...beautiful day today, got up to about 65. It was cloudy all morning and afternoon then at like 4 or 5 it just opened up into beautiful cloud-less blue sky. So I washed the car, waxed the front end and the hood, I cannot BELIEVE how smooth the hood felt after tha wax! As soon as I was done wiping off the wax this HUGE mass of clouds rolled in and it got super dark then poured and violently stormed til about 11:00pm and then finally cleared up about 12:30am....my car is about 54 times dirtier than it was before I washed it!
