DBW (Drive By Wire)

I read somewhere on the Matrixowners.com that the '05 Matrix and Vibe have switched from drive by cable to drive by wire. Does anyone know exactly what that means and how does it affect installation and use of aftermarket performance upgrades?Thanks,Brian

no throttle cable. It uses sensors instead. The intake tube has a smog line that keeps us from getting any current intakes

I saw your pics from another thread and I don't have that tube attached to my intake at all. Maybe its a geographical thing or just on the GT model? But, your's is a base model, right? Not GT?

I'm not sure why but I have seen other 05 without that hose. yes base model

I was washing my 05 GT for the first time today. Popped the hood and saw that it does not have drive by wire, it has a cable.I thought all 05's were DBW, that's what the CD that came with my Vibe mentioned and also all of the reviews I have read online. I don't remember if it mentioned the GT though.Anyone have an 05 or 06 GT that is DBW and not cable?

Maybe its just the base models and only the GT and AWD still have the cable throttle... dunno.My cuz has a 06 carolla and its same as mine DBW.And the dealership here had an 05 GT that was cable throttle!Wierd i guess...

you are correct. the 05/06 base have DBW the Gt and AWD still have cable.

Well darn... i want a GT then! Its easier to find parts and well its a freakin GT!Oh well... too bad ima broke mexican!

yeah, IM broke but Im not mexican. so Im a original broke americana. I wish I had the cable as well. I relly want the supercharger and it is relly pusshing my buttons.
