Amp turn on lead?

Post by Kingslayer »

This is a picture of the wiring harnesses that connect to the factory Moon and Tunes amplifier of a Base 04 Vibe. The one harness has an arrow on it that I drew, pointing to a blue wire with a white stripe (although you can't see the blue stripe, it's there). Is this the proper wire to use to turn on the amp? I would like to splice into this wire, run it to the rear, and use it as a turn on lead for my sub amp.Anyone see any problems?

Just check it with a meter. Get a pointed lead, press into the wire, and see what voltage you're reading with the stereo off 9should be 0), then turn it on and it should come on to whatever voltage, 5v or 12v or whatever.

Did that.I only get 12V from two wires. One wire on the smaller plug and one black one on the the one with the arrow on it above. But they also put out 12V with the radio powered off.

Yeah, I've given up on the amp lead.I decided that I want to switch the amp on and off manually, so I'm going to get a switch to mount in the blanks near the steering wheel. I don't want the subs blaring when the kids are in the car. So I'll just do this instead. It's for the children....
