Audio help needed.

Post by Kingslayer »

I have a 2004 Base Vibe Moon and Tunes. I like the factory system, aside from the fact I'm subwoofer-less. I have a set of 10" Alpine TypeR subs and a good box and an amp. I'm going to put them in and cure this whole subwoofer-less problem.I know from experience with other vehicles that aftermarket amps can cause problems when wired in conjunction with aftermarket amps. The amp I have has both pre-amp inputs and speaker level inputs, how should I wire the amp for the sub?I know that "double amping", running the already amplified signal from the stock speakers to another amp for the subs is a bad thing to do, so give me you opinions on how to do this.Much thanks.

circuit city hooked mine up to my factory moons and tunes. they used a kit to convert the signal that comes directly from the head unit to RCA's so it could connect to the aftermarket amp. both the factory amp and my aftermarket are functional. hope that helps. if all else fails, shell out $80 or so and they will do it for you.

$15 at Wal-mart, Schosche line converter from speaker to RCA. Run a separate power and ground for the amp, and jump off a speaker line for the line converter to convert from a speaker signal to an RCA signal for the amp. Run a remote either from the M&T amp remote signal to tell it when to turn on. I had that in my Vibe for a while before I got a new HU and rid of all the M&T stuff. Works well enough.
