for those of you that believe the 100k miles+ claim that the spark plugs are good for, stop! i have a little over 76k on mine and checked them this weekend, on a sneaking suspicion (and a little jittering at idle) sure enough, they are pretty burned up! time for new ones!

I pulled mine after my engine died and they had only been in since I put the S/C in 2500 miles ago and they were pretty bad as well. I highly suggest keeping an eye on them as well.

Heya...Yeah, changed mine out at around 60k. The ceramic was a bit brown but the diode looked relatively ok. Still though, I don't think I would have wanted to go much longer. I'm sure they'd last 100k but at a drop in performance(then when you change em, the new plugs would make a bigger difference). But to maintain optimal performance though, best to change earlier. Dave
update:the verdict is in. the new plugs make a whole world of difference! my throttle response is amazingly better and my RPMs go up way faster!all 4 plugs were very ready to be changed, so 100k+ miles my (removed)!

Yep I believe it! I always take those extended intervals and cut them in half, than do the maintenance, whatever it is. Specially plugs... Misfire codes can pop up as the plugs get older.

I need to take mine out and look at them... They only have 20,000 or so on them but the car idles like crap. Jittery ain't the word for what this thing is doin' most of the time... But it runs smooth out on the highway, so I don't know if the plugs are actually the problem. So the new ones have pretty much smoothed that idle out?

Nope http://www.densoiridium.com/spconstruction.php Their .4 tip is the smallest. Their spark is the largest and easiest to fire. Great for torque and idle. I've seen people increase the gap without issue on these. NGK make the IX plug which is their attempt to match. It has a .6 tip (standard is 1.1). That one probably works as well in a most aps. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/p...ry=US Colonel, If you have somebody nearby with a vibe, it would take all of 15 min to swap coil packs for a test. If that doesn't help then try one of the 2 plugs mentioned. You can get for less than $50 on ebay all the time.

Check out Lancers link in his speed limiter thread. He found a site that has iridium Power plugs for $10.99.

Did you get the standard NGKs or the more expensive IX performance plug? It's NGKs version of the Denso Power plug. Standard tip is 1.1mm, IX plug is .6, and Power plug is .4. As the tip gets smaller, the spark gets stronger. Iridium Power plug is part of the SC package. I think the CAI help burn up the plugs as the car runs leaner Though 76k is pretty good.. I may have tried one heat range colder in one of the higher performance plugs.

I was windering has anyone had any probs removing their old plugs...i think i have still got the orginials in my car..i now have 98,000kms on her...i heard that u have to wait till the car has really cooled down to remove them after such a long time being in there....because of the aluminum heads..iam not sure if i should tackle this on my own.....what do u guys think???

Dude, you should not change hot plugs anyway. The heat could offset the seating. Just change the plugs in the morning, it would be easier. You can check out my site for when I changed mine.

It's easier to strip the head when the alumunium is warm.

I replaced mine this weekend. It was time, no wonder why mine idled ruff. Bought the Densos, fifty bucks for all 4 from AutoZone. I think they helped.
