Year later, CF hood is here!

Post by Lancer »

Yeah, only a year after depositing $50 for this hood.First impressions:Wow, that's lightwieght and shiney. The deep clear coat gives the cf a cool 3-D effect. After further inspection:Is it supposed to be all scratched up on the underside? Why is there a flat spot on the front edge while the rest is rolled? Are all CF hoods like this?Over all, I really do like it. I hope it fits on the Vibe well or else I'm gonna be really PO'ed. But I gotta wait to install it until it gets a little warmer and no chance of anymore snow or ice.

It looks like pretty good quality. The underside is not really important, what matters is that the top finish is smooth with no bubbles etc.

Awesome, not sure where that flat spot is though. I'll be paying mine off tonight or tomorrow as I get paid tonight! Looks very sharp though!

Well I was gonna post a side shot, but I think I'd prefer to see how the profile of the hood looks on the car itself

That looks awesome! If you want, you could get some mirror tint and put it on the underside of the hood Can't wait to get mine. When do you think you'll hav eit on? This month, next month?OH YEAH, I'm sure you've already thought about this but will it fit with your s/c?

looks nice! I had that hood on my ZX2 and hated it, couldn't leave the car outside because all the rain would channel into the engine, and make is so dirty. It definately looks nice though.

The flat spot is right on the drivers side, front edge. I didn't find any bubbles, only VERY slight waves that you can hardly see. but, yeah, from the top side it looks awesome.I was thinking of mirrored decals infact. The underside is all one molded piece so you can't tuck anything under the frame work.I'm purty sure it'll fit with the s/c. I'd test fit it but the weather as been so crazy lately. 50's -60's one day, teens and snowing that same night! I'm more worried about salt getting on it and scratching it up.

It took exactly 1 week from the day I paid ($502 including shipping). I can't wait for pics either! I think Damronjr will be the first since he's got the nicer weather. It's not going to get above mid 30's for the next couple weeks yet. If my bro-in-law has nothing going on maybe we'll do a little test fit this weekend.

They are expensive, but they were custom built for us. These are the only ones out there besides the OEM style from VIS and, if I recall correctly, it's pretty expensive as well.

I've got a wedding to save up for, clutch installation labor, downpayment for a house, etc etc....but, I AM happy! hahaI can't wait to see these hoods installed!

Forecast is actually not too bad. Sunny for all of next week. Highs mid 40's, lows mid 20's. I gotta look at the nozzles first. I didn't think to do that when I was under the hood changing out the Unichip and TRD ECU and harness yesturday.

My current hood is in such bad condition frmo chips and golf balls I'm almost about to just take a screw driver and pry them off! j/k. I need this hood for winter.

HA! Of course I didn't get mine yet....(removed).If I don't get it by tomorow I will asume something is wrong since it will have been almost a week since shipped. I bet you it is in Michigan though and they just haven't gotten around to sending it my way yet. I really want to put it on when I get it but tonight it was about 20 degrees by 10pm and my dad doesn't get off work til 6 so by the time he gets home and I drive to his housewe it'll be really cold. Not sure if my body can work on cars when it's that cold...then again, NEVER SURRENDER, we've got plenty of kerosene heaters;) (I had the hood shipped to my dad's work to save on cost btw)

OOOOOHH man that's sexy!!! I wanna see pics..AND GUES WHAT!!!!!!! Mine still isn't here....It's been a week since they took the money out of the acount. That gave them 4 days to ship so far and im getting irritated. If I don't get it tomorow I wont be able to put it on until saturday and heads will roll if that happens.......SOOOOOO sexy! How do the corners of the hood look though?I like how they put those wood pieces on the corners to help prevent chipping! Clever idea.

Don't know if anyone else has gotten this far, but once again, I have become notorious for having **** not fit right, and I won't let a hood that only takes 4 bolts to install keep me from that! Sure enough, the hood bolted up and looked awesome, but for some reason the latch wouldn't work right. The first "hook" latch caught just fine, but the lower "lock" latch wouldn't budge. I'm not sure what was wrong as I tried to do it at night and couldn't see crap. Didn't help that both my batteries were dead for my good flashlight! I guess this evening after the job fair I will give it another go and see what's going on. Just seems like the "loop" wasn't pressing right or was too big or something that it wouldn't press the locking mechanism down. Why me?!?

Damron...I think Doug had this problem at the Matrix meet...you have to somehow adjust the latch but be careful not to break it lol. I forgot how he did it.BTW, my hood is not here yet. They have an half hour left before my dad leaves work and if it's not there im calling them up and giving them hell.EFIT: No hood today....work thurs and friday so I wont be able to get it on until saturday IF it even comes in this week. Michigan is closer the Cali so I asumed I would have mine soo but I gues not. I tried to call and give them hell but they did not answer so NOW I am too pissed to even be pissed off.

That sucks Merz, you should call JSP earlier in the morning (they are more likely to pick up then) and harass them and if needed have them call BAX Global or whatever shipping company they used for you and find out where the heck your hood is
