Hatch struts

Post by ColonelPanic »

Anybody have to replace your hatch struts yet? The thing used to fly up on its own back in the day, now it only gets up 3/4 of the way, stops, then you have to push it up the rest of the way. Yes, I know that they're technically there to hold the thing up, not open it, so . lol! But the point here is that they're obviously weak when compared to the properly functioning test vehicle in the fleet and it is only a matter of time until they don't hold it up at all, given the things I have seen previously. It's easy if you have a trunk, just get a 2x4 if you're too cheap/lazy to replace them and prop it up with that, but I think that wouldn't work so hot in this situation. lol!At least I'll never have to replace the ones for the window, that thing is beyond useless anyway so it gets no use. Too bad they're probably different sizes, I'd rather just take those off and screw them to the hatch and put the weak ones on the glass. Any idea what sort of price I'm looking at here? That is, if I feel like spending the money if/when I have it?

CP did you ever replace your hatch struts? My hatch used to work fine but since the colder weather I've had to push it up to stay. It used to stay for the most part but now it just falls down. Really hard to take stuff out the back when the hatch is resting on your head
