Problem with the remote start

Post by racersforford »

Alright, well I installed a remote start in my wife's 2005 Vibe 2 days ago. I only installed the minimums to make it work, because I don't like cuttinig wires. Anyway, today while she was driving home, she didn't have any of the ligts that control the radio/temp control. I turned on the lights, and now the parking lights won't shut off, and the lights she was missing stay on. I noticed that the 12v constant fuses were blown in the remote start. I don't know what the heck is going on.

well, I completely removed everything with the remote start and took it into the dealership and they told me it was the daytime running light module, and they're going to fix it I just hope I didn't cause it by installing the remote start. Oh well, either way it's getting fixed for free, and I got a decient rental car, however, never go with Hertz, the car was dirty inside and out, and there were nasty (removed) cups all inside it. No wonder my Cendant (parent company of hertz) stock is doing so ****ty!

Sounds like you hooked up the RS to flash the parking lights with a postive pulse instead of the required negative pulse. Most RS come default to provide a postive pulse to flash the parking lights. There is ususlly a dip switch or other means to program this to a negative pulse. The Vibe requires a negative pulse and if you hit it with a postive it will take out the DRL module. You are lucky they are changing it for free. If they find out you caused it, they will get you for about $300.

ouch! that sux. I followed the directions on the bulldog website for the wiring of the vibe. Guess I won't be screwing around with that anymore

I am not sure what model Bulldog RS you have but if it is RS821,851,79, you need to read page 8 of the printed installation manual (page10 of the PDF file). This covers hooking up the parking lights. It looks to me like you put +12v to the blue wire when it should have been grounded.I sent a file to your yahoo e-mail address that may help.

Thanks, but I don't think I'm going to mess with it. I think i'm gonna just have a professional install it next time. I found out today that my vibe could be in the shop for the next 3 weeks because the running light module is on national back order. Luckly GM rented me a 06 impaula which is pretty nice
