is it the cold or the car?

Post by ashleymc_38 »

When I go to turn my car on in the morning it seems like it is idleing pretty high. It is usually at 2000rpm when I start it but then if I let it sit for a couple mins it will drop down to under 1000. Is it just because of the cold and letting it sit for a couple hours or is this a normal problem? I want to take it into the dealership to have them look at it but if it just because of the cold then I don't want to feel retarded. I just want to know what is normal or the usual for everyone else when they first start up there car. Is there a difference between the summer and the winter for everyone on how there cars do perform? Thanks for the help!

My car does that too... its been getting cold in cali lately at night. so when i start it, its right around 2000 RPM... and when i drive it after a few the clutch is really touchy too. after the temp guage gets up a bit its perfectly fine!!!

Every Vibe does that, even in the summer though it doesn't idle as long at 2000rpm.
