Need help with engine removal/possible install meet.

Post by damronjr »

Ok, well we got most of the accessoris and other junk is either removed or out of the way as the new engine I got is just that, the engine itself with no accessories or tranny. What I need to know is what has to be done to pull the engine and tranny assembly out (i.e. front drive-train linkage, etc...). Once it is out we will remove the tranny from the old engine, attach it to the new engine, add all of the accessories except the AC compressor (which is still in the car so I don't have to remove the hoses and refill the freon) outside of the car, and drop the complete assembly back in. I plan to add the header, S/C, Injen CAI, and probably the Tranny Cooler when I reinstall everything but I haven't decided if I want to put the W/I back in as it died only a couple of weeks after installing that so I am a little paranoid about that. Next weekend would be an ideal time to do all this as my wife has school all weekend. I thought about doing an install meet for anyone who wanted to help/watch/learn/hang out, but the problem is it is in the backyard of my house and that's in the ghetto where there's not a lot of parking due to a church on the corner of my street 1 house down. If anyone can/would like to come that would be awesome too as any help/knowledge would be greatly appreciated, but just wanted to let you know the situation in advance. Either day would be fine but Sun will most likely be best as my bro-in-law has that day off and he is a diesel mechanic and knows about all this stuff. Just wanted to throw that out as we quit on Sat b/c we weren't sure what had to be done to get the actual engine out with the FWD stuff.

Well guys, I hate to disappoint, and I'm kind of bummed myself, but it's looking like I will have to take the Vibe in to get the engine swap done. It's been down way too long and it's really hard for those who are supposed to help me to find a time we can all work together on this anytime soon, SOOO I will probably be taking it in today to GET'R DUN! Found a place that will do it for $350 labor since I don't need any parts, just said it will take about 3 days since they have other projects as well. I wanted to do it this weekend but my assistance isn't going to be able to make it and it's supposed to rain all weekend and I don't have a garage. I'll keep everyone posted.
