possible to add larger tires to do the same job as lowering springs?

Post by qwerty1 »

of course I mean as far as looks go. I just do not like the huge gap from tire to wheel well. Any ideas besides lowering it. Thanks

You can't put on larger tires. It is recommended that you go no bigger than 3% larger. 205/60/16 is about 3% bigger than 205/55/16 the stock size. It would not make any difference appearance wise. Lowering is the only choice. You could go with coil-over springs which are adjustable for height ($1,100.00) or air bag suspension (big bags of bucks). Tein S-Tech lowering springs are about $130.00 delivered.

Even with 18" wheels, it's recommended you stay within 3% of the stock diameter. All you'd be doing by going with a larger wheel is decreasing the amount of sidewall on the tire to stay within that 3% of overall diameter. You'd have the look of more wheel filling your gap rather than rubber, but overall, you'd have the same gap.Your only solution is to lower.
