I went with the base no abs. But after driving it for a while I start to wish that I had waited for one with abs to come up. Anyway has anybody done this, if how?
Welcome aboard! It didn't bother me at first at all to not have ABS, but over time, it began to bug me more and more about not having them on the car. Next time around, I'll definitely want things like ABS, traction control, and stability control... At the time over three years ago, and still to this day, the dealer I bought my Vibe from didn't stock any Vibes with ABS. They're very hard to come by around here for some reason. It's pretty much impossible to add them, there is far too much hardware that has to be added to make them work that our non-ABS cars currently don't have. The best way to get ABS is to rid yourself of your current car and find one with them, unfortunately. It's going to cost you, but if safety is important to you, you can't put much of a price on that sort of thing. If you just bought yours new, you might check with the dealer and see if they'll let you exchange this car for one that has them if it isn't too late... I've always heard of these dealers with "30 day money back guarantees," so if such a thing really exists, your dealer participates in such a thing, and if they'll hold true to it, you may get lucky. But who knows! At any rate, glad you found us!

i'm sure it could be added, but it will probably cost a lot of money.I have ABS, and haven't really needed it yet. Only time it ever really helped was once I was going to fast on a snowy road, and when i went to slow down, I heard/felt that characteristic grating sound of the brakes pulsing that makes you think the car is dying, let me know I was going to fast for the conditions, Only other times it activated was when I've deliberately slammed on the brakes in snowy parking lots. Makes a terrible sound, one that makes you never want to check it out again.

He wisely said "Nope - I'm giving this car back to you for another one." And it was done. You only get one shot so if the 2nd one had a problem he'd have been stuck with it.
