Fuel economy of 2005 vs 2006

I recently just flipped through phil edmudsons lemon aid books for the 2005 and 2006 vibes. He states that the 2005 are really good on gas while fuel consumption with the 2006 is much higher. Can anyone comment on this? Did they change the engine or something?Thank you for your input

My mileage is much higher on my '06 compared to my '04. I did change from an auto to 5 speed though. I averaged 36mpg on the '04 and 42mpg on the '06. Canadian gallons and 90% highway.1 Can. gallon= 1.2 US gallons.

These two posts are oposite of each other - one says 'fuel consumption with the 2006 is much higher" and the other says "my mileage is much higher on my '06.
