Ok, I was going to go in for my second oil change and I guess it's time for a "semi-annual" inspection. They want to charge $59.95 for that and then another $35.95 for the oil change. In my opinion this is crazy. All I need is an oil change and tire rotation in my opinion.I think I'm going to go to Costco and get it done there. This doesn't affect warranty or anything if I don't go to the dealer does it ? I will record the oil change in the manual. I really would like to go to GM to service my Vibe but their price is just too much. I can get synthetic oil at Costco for a couple of dollars more than the price at GM. What do you guys think ?
Your dealer is crazy. My local dealer charged me $50 for the rotation inspection and oil change.Yes you can go where ever you like to get the job done. Just make sure you geting a receipt with the work listed what they did on the car. Because if something happens with your engine the first queston will be:"Did you change your oil?"

Hmmm... interesting. Apparently the deals vary depending on what part of the country.http://www.gmcanada.com/englis....htmlAlthough the same "semi-anual" inspection in ON is $10 cheaper than in Atlantic Canada I guess individual dealers are free to offer different specials, unfortunately the 2 dealers in my area suck. Haven't made an appointment anywhere yet but am leaning towards Costco.
Just an update...Decided to go to Costco. Very happy with their service. No appointment needed, car was almost ready after I did a bit of shopping. It may have been a special they had on, but they didn't charge me for the tire rotation, only for the oil change. Decided to go with the Synthetic since it's such a good deal there. Cost me around $38.99 CAN + tax (only ~$2 more than an oil change at GM with crappy old regular stuff)I think I will take the car into GM dealership once a year for an annual inspection and I will continue to do oil changes with Synthetic at Costco. One thing to note is that the only synthetic they have is 5w50Anybody else use this, or have any comments on it ? I usually have always put in 5w30 in my cars. Will be interesting to see if this has any effect on mileage or anything else.

You can safely ie satisfy the warranty requirements re oil, only if you use 0/5/10W-30.
