Greetings all!First post here and hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction. A couple of weeks ago I was planning to install an antenna relay for my sirius sportster in my 2004 vibe (standard single CD player) but I never got that far. I popped the dash open, unscrewed the radio, pulled it out and quickly realized that the antenna cable would not fit the relay. So I put everything back together and turned the radio on and that's when things got weird. I still have sound coming from the radio but no volume control. The display is garbled with just seemingly random lined displayed but the lines change periodicially for no apparent reason. The radio pre-sets all still work but I can't manually tune the radio. The CD player still works...I'm stumped. I'd be stunned if I was able to kill the radio this easily but that's what it seems like to me. I've checked the fuses (don't get me started on the fuse box) and everything seems fine. I was thinking I might have tripped an anti-theft device or something but from what I've read in the forums there's not supposed to be an anti-theft device in a 2004 vibe. Any suggestions? Replacing the radio is a much more attractive option than paying the dealer to look at it but if it's just a theft code problem I'd probably just bite the bullet.
I can't imagine what would cause that, I've pulled the radio out of mine several times and had no problem. Are you still under warranty? I know what you mean about that fuse box. There's only one fuse for the radio, (appropriately named "CIG" ) If the CD works fine then the fuse is ok.welcome to genvibe
Did you pull it out again and disconnect / reconnect it? Maybe something's not 'all the way in'. Check the connectors too and make sure there aren't any wires that're partially falling out.
