Underbody LEDs

Post by theangrydwarf1 »

For those of you that have installed underbody lighting, how did you set it up so you can turn them on? I just bought an LED kit from PlasmaGlow and was working on how to wire it so I can turn them off and on. I have a few ideas, just wondering what others have done. Thanks.

Mine came with a remote... so I just use that to turn them on and off (and change their colors).

I got them for $140USD on http://www.sportcompactonly.com. Its about half of what you would pay to get them from PlasmaGlow's website. That's what I was thinking Scherry2. Did you tie the switch into the ignition so that when the ignition is on you can turn them on or did you just wire them up straight from the battery? Thanks to those that have posted their ideas thus far.

Wired them up straight to the battery... mainly so I can have them on when the car is not running.

I'm also looking to install some lights on the inside, so I'm looking ahead to keep the installs easy. Thanks again.

Eventually I'll get to that point as well... I want to put a few lights up under the dash to lightup the floorboard, but I will need to install a switch to turn those on and off (probably going somewhere to the left of the steering wheel if I can find a switch I like.

I was trying to figure out the best placement for the tubes and wanted to see where others have mounted their tubes. I want to get it planed out so it will take me the least amount of time. Thanks again.

That is the exact switch I have been looking for (maybe a different color) but that looks really nice and the placement is great. I'll have to put my switch there when I get my interior LEDs installed... who uses that so-called change holder anyway?

I have my switch in the same place as scherry. Mine lasted 3 years before I finally cracked one of hte tubes due to carelessness on the way to the Fenton meet last June. (clipped a high curb while turning). I was gettin sick of them anyways but now I really miss them and I willbe getting a new set this spring especially now with the S-Techs on it will look amazing!A picture of the kit before it was lowered and all that fun stuff. Also one of the switch, imitation c/f toggle switch, and I wired a red light to it because I've gotten a billion tickets for forgetting to turn them off on major roads.
