Hey everyone. I thought I would show you guys my vibe that I am sooo proud of. It really is a head turner on the road. Tinted windows and WINDSHIELD!!!! Yes, im not lying. It is straight up BLACK. It really makes tha car stand out so much. And to answer your question, yes you can see perfectly outside during the night. The fronts and sides are all dual layered 5% tint and the windshield is 20%. Here are some pics of the car just so you can see how nice it looks. I totally recommend doing this. And just in case you are wondering, I had a friend take the pics of the car while i was sitting inside just so you could see that it is virtually impossible to see inside.....LOL. Tint....gotta love it!!! I got lots of toys on the inside to tell about, but thats for another thread. If you want, look up my vibe in the pics page. It should be labeled "150 dB Vibe"
sorry about that everyone. i was having problems psoting my pics. If you want, you can see ALL the features on ym car if you go here : http://www.cardomain.com/ride/564982Hope you like what I have done so far to the car.
Wow, I like the setup you have for the rear speakers molded to the side! Very unique. If I were to get my windshield tinted here in Michigan, I bet I would get a ticket before I even put the key in the ignition at the tint shop. Don't get me wrong though it looks bad@$$ When are you gonna lower that baby?
Good luck I hope you don't get a ticket!625 ILCS 5/12-503) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-503) Sec. 12-503. Windshields must be unobstructed and equipped with wipers. (a) No person shall drive a motor vehicle with any sign, poster, window application, reflective material, nonreflective material or tinted film upon the front windshield, sidewings or side windows immediately adjacent to each side of the driver. A nonreflective tinted film may be used along the uppermost portion of the windshield if such material does not extend more than 6 inches down from the top of the windshield. Nothing in this Section shall create a cause of action on behalf of a buyer against a dealer or manufacturer who sells a motor vehicle with a window which is in violation of this Section.
Did you get a doctor's note or something? I know if you have bad eyes or skin cancer you can legally tint the windshield. My friend did that to his Saturn (he doesn't have any problems, he just made it up and the doctor gave him the slip).
my windshield was tinted when i bought my car (got it used). i love it, it cuts down on glare so much at night, and during the day its pretty hard to see into the car unless its really sunny out. i've had the car for about 1 1/2 years, have yet to get pulled over in it (knock-on-wood).
Yow, that's dark... Kinda reminds me of the guy who tinted mine, he tints all of his windshields... He has 5% on his Firehawk's windshield but it's only a play on REALLY nice weekends kind of car. It's hard enough for me to see out the side windows at times with the 35% stuff I have.

I heard also that some insurance companies won't pay out if you're involved in an accident and your windshield is tinted, due to the 'obstruction' clause..I've also heard about the medical tinting.Veeeery black, dude

Yes sir, you must have had a bad week..he said you can see out of it fine at night, so chances are...you can see fine out of it at night. no need to jump on someone because you think what they did is stupid. I think it looks good, and if he did get in an accident with someone who didnt have their lights on when they should have, shouldnt it be their fault for..uh..not having their lights on when they should have? Way to rain on the parade
ACTUALLY....I the major reason tint is illegal is not from a driver safety aspect it is more for the safety of police. I don't think the state administrators care who dies in car accidents due to tint. You do have a right to voice your opinion and I'm glad you did. BUT, keep in mind text on a computer text can be taken to certain extremes if your tone of voice is not heard Personally I would never tint my windshield but it does look REALLY awesome.

AHEM, it is called a personal opinion and I have every right to voice it, especially when it is all about "looking cool". Tinted windshields are ILLEGAL for a reason. Why should I believe he can see perfectly fine when we all know the tint will reduce visibility? Simply stated, tinting the windshield is a vain, irresponsible act (unless for TRUE medical reasons), no matter how nice it looks.Nothing was ever said about headlights only being used to illuminate the road..i'm well aware of the fact that they are used to be seen and yes, I have seen people driving at night without lights on and it aggravates me. Like djb said, its not what you said, its how you said it. DBVibe posted this to show everyone his new tint, and, while you have a right to your opinion, to take it one step further and make it seem as though you think your opinion is the ONLY acceptable response is ridiculous. Whether or not you meant to, the message you sent out was saying, 'This is wrong, here's the reasons it's bad, that's all!' You can tell people what you think without completely shooting down his idea and beating the crap out of it with your negativity stick. Most people would probably take that with a grain of salt but it really bugs me when people act like their opinion is all that matters and like i said, you may not have meant that at all but it's certainly the message you delivered with your previous post.

ok ok, there has been a lot of fighting about me tinting my windshield. For those of you who think it is completely stupid for me doing so, that is fine. I love how it looks and YES, I can see perfectly fine out of it. It is no darker than if you had 35% on your windows. Besides, for all of you who have tinted windows, it seems dark the first week you drive with them right? But then you get used to it and then your eyes adjust perfectly to them. This is the samw thing here. It TRULY is not DARK looking out. It only is looking in. Listen, I have had thousands of dollars worth of equipment in this vehicle and it acts also as a secutity measure. I have had many people try to break into it. I would rather them not know what is inside and not know any ways to look into the car and find ways around the locks and high-end security. Also, I work at a gentlemens club and many times I have to drive some of the girls home if they do not have a ride. They do not like people knowing that they are ebing driven home or knowing where they live, so this REALLY helps them too. This idea wasn't all about glamour people. For all of you that liked the tint I did do to it, thanks a bunch. It means a lot. It really makes it look really clean.Secondly, have you ever noticed then when you see car commercials for those new sweet rides, they tint ALL of the windows black? They do this becuase it accents the car and makes the car look even sleeker. It was a ploy driven to draw more customers to buying those cars. Kind of interesting huhg? I bet next time you see a car commercial you will totally notice this. All windows including the windshield is black. By the way, I have had officers pull me over, but they were for the side windows only. A couple noticed the windshield and they all said it was a bad idea only because some people could have guns aimed at the officers when pulled over, and they wouldnt even know AND that if there was ever a hit-and-run, no one would be able to identify the driver. But yes, cops have noticed me and I have just as much respect for them as they do for me. They think its a sweet ride too.....lol Thanks for all the posts everyone!!!
yeah, about the insurance thing. i called my friend steph whom works for a insurance agency in richmnd and she said that most majot insurance agancies including some minor and her insurance agency will not pay out reguardless of fault if the car is illegaly tinted on the windsheild as well as other illegal things like altered headlights, clear tailights, etc. so with that said, I would check with my ins. agency and see if they will cover you because if somone braodsides you at a green light then you are still screwed.

Tinted windshields are not illegal in most states. It is all about perception. North Dakota law says no more than 70% light transmittance on the front windshield, BUT it doesn't say anything about the AS1 line. You have to just be ready to fight it.....like me:)
OH and ND are the only states that allow windshild tint. all other's have restrictions at 6" +/-1". which is to say it's illegal to tint the windshild bcause to say you have means you completely did it.the car does look better with it, as i said before, but it should be clearly stated. it's isn't safe or recomendable. insurance will always try to get out paying a claim. if you're negligent, they will fight not to give you any compensations. if you bluntly ask any insurance, they will give you a coorporate answer. "no, we don't cover modifications not allowed by law" vehicles get inspected thuroghly for liability, when it's a great amount of monetary damage or loss of life. so if you have a fender bender, unless it's plainly obvious of unsafe modifications. your insurance isn't going to make a big deal of it. and likely won't know.if you're in an accident with a tinted windshield, and somebody looses their life. you are very much liable. even the pedestrian that might've got hit by debri can sue you. you were being wreckless.the law is very blurry, and unless you are commiting a big crime, nobody cares.
I found this on a website of a window tinting company. It applies to TexasThis law restricts the amount of window film darkness on all side windows combined with any existing tint already in the glass to no darker than a number total of 35% 25%LT (LT = light transmission). If the car has 2 outside door mirrors (one on each side) it allows any darkness on the rear wind shield. If the car has only 1 outside mirror the car is only allowed a total of 35% 25%LT on all windows including the rear wind shield. It does allow front windshields to be tinted measured down from the top of the windshield 5 inches or to the AS1 line which ever measurement comes first (most cars have this AS1 line & some don't). Total of 35% 25%LT allowed here as well. 1987 and older are not excluded from this law any more.
