Post by Mrizzle05 »

Hey there... i finally got my intake yesterday. Woo-Hoo... but i wanted to make sure when i put it in i dont end up with extra bolts or something. I have experience with putting them on but i have a VIBE now... so i wanted to see if anyone has a insatllation sheet they can email me or a thread i can look at so i know what i need to do to get my intake on. Plus i want the cheat sheet so i can put in on as fast as possible*On another note i finally got my genvibe stickers and my 3rd brake light sticker... ill post some pics up as soon as i can. Thanks a million in advance!!!

Don't blow your MAF is all I can say. I blew mine when I connected the battery with the MAF already connected. My success afterwards has been unplugging the MAF before disconnecting the battery and then plugging the MAF back after connecting the battery. For some reason I got a power spike through the first time when I connected the battery after having the MAF connected.... it sucked.

I got so mixed up in how to get it on i cursed and yelled and threw lots of tools and gave up till tonight hopefully.NEED HELP!!! if theres anyone that has better pictures or can better explain how to put those on i would GREATLY appriciate it.Thanks for any help and mental support!!!

You're probably gonna need someone with esperience with an 05 to help you out, most of us who have done it are 03-04 which are a little different. Hope you get it done though. Have you tried asking the company who's CAI it is for better instructions?

I want to take a look under the hood of my friend's base Matrix and see whats there. I know there was some differences with vac lines and what not with the GT Vibes.

I don't think your problem is all that. What CAI do you Have? I looked at an '05 and the only difference that I saw was there is a hose that pluggs into my Injen CAI on my '03, It appears that they took that hose and it now goes into the TB on the '05 instead. Looks to me that all you would have to do is Block the 1" "nipple" with a Rubber VAC stopper (Saw one in a variety pack at autozone) clamp it down with a hose clamp or zip tie and be on your way.

Yeah! well if so where does that lil tubing that comes with the CAI go after hooked up to the intake...I got mine off ebay... that one velocitymax... or what ever. Its for the matrix base... but since its our sister car its the same for us... and it said vibe too so im not sure...So why do i have to plug that off... dont mean to question anyones knowledge isnt there a purpose for it or whats it for???Sorry just dont wanna break my baby!!!

I'm going looking on E-bay - I do believe that you got all the stuff for 02-04 and some '05s what that kit - I do not believe you need that "Extra" tube for yours if I remember correctly it was to extend the 02-04 hose. by chance is thre any way you could get a Picture of your TB? if I saw which one you have I'll be able to tell you real quick what you need to do.

no problem - anytime - I remember hearing that the Early '05 models had the same TB as the 02-04 - then they changed it. so essentially '05 model year Vibes have 2 different TB's. (If Memory Serves)

Early '05 was cable throttle, later '05 is drive by wire. I have an '06 with a Cosmo CAI. The small fitting on the CAI has a plastic cap and there is a larger one for the big hose about 1" from the throttle body. Included in the kit is a hose one size smaller than the one on the car which fits inside and extends it long enough to connect to the CAI. If you can drill a hole and attach a larger fitting to the CAI, you should be able to use it.

I tried drilling mine and screwed the whole thing up... now I'm stuck with a CAI that won't fit and I'm out that $$$. My 05 is drive by wire with the new TB... I can't seem to find a CAI that will fit that without doing some modification to the CAI itself.

Ok - I looked at the pictures - seems a little different, I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to pick up some lug nuts - I'll look at the '05's they have there. There should be a way to get this working without too much trouble - I saw the Velocity one that you got. Looks pretty standard issue. Toasted - Maybe we can get together and take a look at your's see if there isn't something we can do to get it working for you. "DUCK TAPE WORKS WONDERS" Just kidding

Cosmo Racing makes one for DBW but they are out of stock right now. I got mine about 3 months ago. There were no modifications necessary to make it fit.

Sorry Mrizzle - I didn't get to the dealership yesterday, I'm 99.5% sure that as long as the Angle is correct to connect to the TB, you just need to block off the "Nipple" and do not need to use the "Extra" hose. That is, IF you even want to mess with this one anymore.
