Hey everyone, New Member

Post by FlynHwian »

Hey everyone, I just bought a used '04 Vibe GT w/ 10k on it. I didn't even know this car even had a GT model til I saw it on the used lot, and when I found it, I thought "I've gotta test drive this one!" This is my first new(ish) car after going through a slew of old, beat up, unreliable cars. (92 Sentra, 93 Nissan XE, 93 Ford Probe GT !!) And I must say, I'm extremely pleased with this car's ability to "get up and go" even stock and it had more horses than the Probe's V-6! And I was also stoked to find out it had a Celica GT-S engine stuffed itno the engine bay.So as for mods, I'm probably just going for the tried and true Injen, Magna, and Uni-Chip. Maybe some DC headers and lowering sprngs. But I was wondering if anybody had some before / after pics of the Tein S-Tech springs, cuz I want see how much difference it really makes.sAnyways, just wanted to stop by the lounge and say howdy to all the fellow vibe owners out there.

I also purchased my Vibe GT used at low KM's - Un-aware of the Vibe's existance at the time. It really grabs you quickly in the test drive that's for sure. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to Gen Vibe!

Welcome to the Encyclopedia of Vibe! I almost purchased a used Vibe GT about two years ago, but the dealer was a total jerk, so I ended up with a Base automatic instead, which made my wife much happier because she can drive it too.

Alright here are some pics of my car after a nice wash and a half completed job of euro styling the front plate. The plate frame on these cars works really well cuz you can get the plate flush with the frame. Next is a frame to fit it. But my first mission is to get the windows tinted, especially since summer is rolling around soon.

Well you can check out my car domain site for pics of what my 04 base looked like before and after lowered on TEIN springs. I also have an Injen and unichip to be combined with a magnaflow exhaust this summer.

Wow, thanks Merz. That drop looks killer, but what does it change in terms of say driveability and ability to clear speed bumps/driveways?Also, how much faster did your car feel after you put on the CAI and exhaust? The Unichip might have to wait a while, cuz it's pretty expensive to do it right apparently.

Well, the cold air intake added a noticable amount of power as well as sound. I was amazed at how much louder and sweeter the car sounded once installed! I don't think the exhaust gave that much more power since it is only an axel back, but mine is for a Vibe GT so the pipes are about a quarter inch wider. I had to by a new flange to connect it to my base Vibe's mid-pipe. When you chose exhaust. Magna Flow cat-back comes with the resonator and it might give a little more power than the Borla (not sure) but it is higher pitched and louder than the Borla. I personally think the Borla sounds better because it seems to have a deeper, more throaty growl then the Magna Flow and not as much whine. That's just from what I've heard with my ears though so I dunno. As far as the S-techs are concerned...It handles alot smoother and it's alot easier to turn the wheel. The ride is not any more rougher then before the drop so it doesn't sacrifice the ride at all. I have bottomed out a few times on speed bumps and the first week I had it dropped, if I went to fast down my driveway, the front bumper would scrape on the curb but as long as you are careful and know your car you wont have any problems Overall So far all the parts I've bought were WELL worth the money, and eveyone I talk to says my car is the sweetest hatch back they have seen
