Clutch warranty

Post by Sub-Vibe-R »

As we know, the Vibe is covered with a 3 years bumper to bumper warranty and a 5 years power-train warranty. Anyone know if the clutch is covered by those warranty?

I called the GM customer service. I asked few questions about the warranty. 1st: In the Vibe book given by my dealer, it is written 3 years bumper to bumper and 5 years power-train but, on GM weg site, it show only 3 years. Answer (after the representative put me on hold for 3 mins, she get back to me and sez: "The Vibe is covered by 3 yers bumper to bumper and 5 years power-train.2nd: Is the clutch is covered by one of those warranty? Amswer: I think the clutch is covered by the 3 years warranty but ask your dealer to be sure. So, another not clear answer from GM. It seems to be very

I called my Pontiac dealer. I spoke with the service dept and I finally get a clear answer. The clutch is covered by the 3 years bumber to bumper warranty but not covered for "normal wear". It is like tire and brake. If they wear prematurely due to a part default, it is covered by the waranty but if the premature wear is due to abusive usage (like burning tire on a red light) it is not covered. So, in fact, it is covered but it will be very hard to proof that this premature wear is due to a default and not an abusive usage.

I am not aware of any 5 year powertrain warranty on the Vibe. It should just be 3YR/36000miles which ever comes first unless you purchased an extended warranty at the dealership. Maybe its just for the Canadian Vibes. I can't find anything on the Pontiac website about the extended powertrain factory warranty. Could someone find some info on this as I am very interested to read more about this topic.

take a look here: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1769Looks like Canadian Vibe/Matrix and U.S. Matrix owners have 3 years bumper to bumper + 5 years power train. U.S. Vibe owners have only the 3 years bumper to bumper warranty. Stange.1 positive point for canadian owners. The wait longer, but get better warranty.

It may be because the canadian plant is the plant that produces the matrix which has the longer powertrain warranty. The US Vibes are built in the Calif Plant that produces the Corrolla, Tacoma, and the Vibe.

Both, Canadian ans US Vibes are built at NUMMI and the beggest difference is the speed indicator (km vs miles). All other parts are the same. So, why both have not the same warranty, only GM and may be God know.

I think the people at the dealer you have spoken to all haven't a clue what they are talking about. I find it difficult to believe that Americans don't get the 5 year powertrain warranty. Geesh, Chrysler gives 7 years. Someone who is trying to BUY a VIBE should ask the dealer at that time. You'll get a better answer then probably. The clutch should be part of the 5 year powertrain warranty.

Canada models have other differences besides the kph/mph meter. Headlights are quite different. Canadian models have no automatic headlights (twilight sentinel), tail lights are not on a separate relay (run directly off the switch) and there is no "headlights on" indicator on the dash to say your lights are on. There is apparently an indictor for low washer fluid level on Canada models only. That's all I find on the circuit diagrams.

You are correct, the clutch 95% of the time will NOT be covered under warranty as they will try to nail the driver for it, However if it burns in 6000-10000 K and there have been reports on there database and there has been issues with it, you have a good chance for a warranty clutch. No Factory or Extended service plan coveres the clutch ..... again unless there are recorded problems with it, and it happens I guess within the first 6 months of driving your car!....as you said very hard to prrove....they want your Money!
