Never good enough... MORE MORE MORE!

Post by viberationz »

Yet again I am not happy with what I have - but I don't exactly have a ton of cash to up-grade everything. So I have a few questions...I need to up-grade my speakers in the doors, I believe they are 5 1/2" - But I want them to match my Alpine Type R subs - The only Type R speakers that are close are 6 1/2" - Atleast that I can see online (http://www.alpine1.com) Will these fit (front and rear doors)??? How much should I expect to spend on all 4? I also want to replace the tweeters up-front. As far as I can tell - they come with the speakers.I have been itching to up-grade the whole system, here's what I currently have:2 - 10" Alpine Type R (2Ù + 2Ù) Each at 1000W Peak, 300W RMSRockford Fosgate T5002 (500 Watt 2-Channel Amplifier)Pioneer AVIC-N1 Head Unit (5OW x 4)Raptor Power CapacitorI am clueless as what I need to do - and often find myself thinking "the more money the better". Don't get me wrong - my stereo is plenty powerful - but would anyone recommend any changes? And do you think my amp is good enough for both subs or should I invest in another one to have them run their own sub?I really don't know what to do to get my car a rockin' without spending a bunch more money... Another option was to get another sub - but I would have to change my amp. No matter what happens I plan to replace all of the factory speakers this month. I will make a trip to the city to invest in some more equipment and I hate to take one persons advice, to boot a sales mans', I would like some more input. Any suggestions? One more thing - If the 6 1/2" Type R speakers work - will I need a seperate amp for them - or would you run them off the head-unit?Here's the Type R ratings:Power Handling Capacity (RMS): 70WPower Handling Capacity (Peak): 350W THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

with the speakes in the doors they are both 6 1/2" and will fit but for the front you need the brace that holds the stoke speaker to fit the replacements and the rear speakers can go right in the door no brace needed, just becarefull of the window when it rolls down. and for power just run it off of the stock wires you dont need an amp for it(if im wrong someone will correct me) but i am just using the stock wires and the wires that came with my speakers (see pic).this is the front speaker with the bracket.

Is that a light in your speaker - or something seperate? I like that look - how did you go about getting that?

To add to NascarXprt's comments:Yes; you can use 6 ½" speakers in the rear and can either mount them using the mounts like he did with his Dual Illuminites (yep...lights come with 'em) or drill out the rivets and mount directly in the door.I installed a pair of Infinity 6012si speakers in my rear doors and they sound fine. You don't need an amp, but I would suggest you consider getting one. My fader is almost all the way to the back now to get a decent balance. This is because the stock speakers are 2 ohms and most aftermarkets are 4.

Those lit up speakers are just too cool... I am gonna' have to see what I can do to get that for my Vibe - thing is, I'm very determined to get the Alpine Type R 6 1/2"'s for the doors - everything's gotta' be matching (same as the subs in the Vibe). I've never even seen speakers lit up like that before - thanks for the new 'idea' and making me want... MORE! Ha...I did take out my factory speaker to make sure that the Type R's aren't too deep though - gotta' make sure everything can still function (windows roll down).

With the TypeRs you'll definitely have to have some sort of mounting ring. (I gutted the factory speakers in the front to mount my MOMO's), or cut out the grille in the plastic of the door and mount to that.

Thanks for the complement viberationz. those speakers i got at Best Buy and the lights came inside the speakers but im pretty sure you can puts some kind of light in there to make it look that with any other speaker but, i like mine alittle more though. i can understand that you want your speakers to match your subs as much as possible. i have those lights hocked up to a switch i have under the E-brake so i can turn them on and of when i want, its great, everybody ive shown loves em.
