GM best Idea?

Post by scherry2 »

Survey Says Aveo is GM's "Best New Idea" GM Internal Communications, January 31, 2006 .... A Detroit News CyberSurvey recently posed the question: Which of the new or redesigned GM 2006 or 2007 models are you most interested in? Nearly 34 percent of readers picked the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo, which was revealed for the first time in North America during the recent Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Aveo boasts youthful refinement inside and out and premium features generally found in more expensive cars, such as a standard iPod jack and side airbags. The Aveo is America's best-selling entry-level car by a wide margin, and its success has helped trigger the industry's interest in the subcompact segment. If the Aveo is GM's best idea its a sinking ship. My $.02

Ugh, I agree. I test drove a brand new Aveo just before my Vibe, and I felt like I was in a cereal box while driving it. I will say a brand NEW Aveo was less than my used Vibe, but hands down the Vibe was more comfortable. I felt like a giant in a kiddie car in that thing--Best Idea? I don't think so.

When Oil reaches $262 per barrel, you may wish you were driving an Aveo!

I don't know, the numbers were from fueleconomy.govThe algorithm used to obtain the numbers is summarized at http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/how_test ... nteresting quote from that page:"In the 1980s, an EPA study found that drivers were typically achieving lower fuel economy than predicted by EPA laboratory tests. As a result, EPA required the laboratory-derived city and highway MPG estimates posted on the labels of new vehicles to be adjusted downward by 10 percent for city estimates and by 22 percent for highway estimates to better reflect the MPG real-world drivers can expect."2006 is the fourth model year for the Vibe, and for each of those four years, the Pontiac Vibe has been the best EPA MPG estimate of any car with a US brand on it for that year. Chevy/Geo Metro's and Prizms used to get better MPG, so Chevy stopped selling them
