Excessive Noise

It was about 9:30 Monday Night...Coming home from my Monday Meeting...Crusing through the town of Stratford...Rolled up to the light at the Green...The light turned green...No one around...Ran the tach to 8 grand through 1rst...then shifted to 4th and was cruising at 40 mph...turned up my radio...alittle Judas Priest...cruised a mile or so...looked in my rearview mirror...Here he comes...lights going...siren making excessive noise...pulls in behind me...walks up to the car and says..." Do you know why I pulled you over? "...I wanted to say.." Cause you had nothing better to do but waste my time.." but instead...I said " No officer, I dont... wasnt speeding..." He informs me that I went like a bat out of hell through the green... I said yes...I went through first gear...then to fourth..and never broke the speed limit..He said..well as he stumbled for words...well you car was very loud...and asked if I had an aftermarket exhaust...which I then said not really...I told him my exhaust was a factory option that was dealer installed...as I work for the dealer and sell the cars...He then tried to tell me that was illegal and then asked for my license and registration...10 minutes later he comes up with some bull**** story and gives a $293 dollar ticket for excessive noise violation...and tells me I can dispute with the DMV....I fXXXing pissed...Actually I have a borla dual exhuast...but he wouldnt know the difference..still pissed. Now I have to take a day off from work to go to court to fight this stupid ticket...If you ever in Stratford CT...put a banana in your tailpipes...J

Ha ha...(not laughing at you, just how loud the 2zz can get )That's the 2nd time I've heard of a 2zz'er get busted for hitting lift through an intersection. The thing about our cars is the intake is louder than the exhuast in lift. That's why I usually stay outta lift in the city.In Cali, there's a law against excessively loud exhausts but I don't know of any regarding the intake. There's a chance you may be able to get it thrown out.If they ask for a demo, go ahead. You can't rev into lift while stopped.

I live not far from you.I used to go to Stratford often. FACT: in most states, the LAW states all vehicle noise violations are required to be measured at specific distances at specific rpms. If it was just his opinion, "it won't hold." SAME reason he did not try to give you a speeding ticket. He had no way to measure your speed. He knew this, so he gave you a BS ticket. Good luck...

I'm not a fan of loud exhausts, but it seems that the ordinary motorcycle is louder than a borla dual exhaust and that seems to be o.k.Saddam had his way of torturing his citizens, and our government (at all levels) has its way. It is your duty to fight that ticket.

I hate to (removed) the thread here but where do you get the Borla dual exhaust? I have only seen the single.

I had it custom made....you cant buy it anywhere...the sound I tried to duplicate was that of the VW R32...And it sounds just like it...a nice low growl....j

Had the same thing happen to me last month in Menasha. Cop was in the right lane and behind me when I went to pass a sloww moving bronco. Just happen to had done it while going under a highway over- pass. The (removed) pulled me over and had his gun drawn as he walked up to my car (note:I have Fire/Rescue plates!!). Then ordered me to keep my hands on the steering wheel. All for a 'loud' exhaust! I too have a borla. I argued with him for a bit just to (removed) him off a little for pulling me over and for drwing his weapon on me. He also stated that if it wasn't stock then it's 'illeagal'.I'll try to help you look up stuff to fight it. Even a semi cruising down the city street is way louder then we are.

as long as you have a cat., it's emissions legal. As far as noise...he must have a db meter or there best be a law in your state, saying "only OEM exhaust is allowed". Otherwise all muffler shops(ie. Midas) would be out of business in your state. Get it? Just mention my Midas quote and make them think for a second...it works ...sometimes.
