LCD Installed and HU moved

Post by frostyGT »

Just installed this LCD this afternoon. Also moved the HU down. I'm still trying to decide if I should remount the inverter, or just remove the whole system. I've had the Vibe 3.5 years now, and I've never used the outlet once. Pretty simple mod, but quite a bit of dremeling. I still need to fabricate some side inserts for the monitor, but everything is stable and works great.Adding a monitor really helps with the MP3 management on this HU (JVC KD-DV5100). It can hold 1100 MP3 on a disc, so navigating with the little HU display can be frustrating. My system:JVC KD-DV5100 Head UnitInfinity 6.5s in all doorsInfinity Basslink X powered subInnovatek IN-777A 7" LCD (second screen waiting to be installed)Here are some pics. Still needs some finishing, but okay for now.Let me know what you think!

Thanks for the compliments. I had to get the job done while my girls were napping. Believe it or not, it looks better in person. The flash really accentuates the cheesiness of my monitor quickfab.I still need to install the headrest monitor. I'm also going to run an AV hook-up for my Ipod. Nothing fancy, just gonna run the connections into the armrest. I should be able to run a photo slideshow on the monitors while listening to music. Plus, I'll be able to play movies off the Ipod.

does the CD, when it ejects, hit the shifter when in 1st or 3rd?I have an automatic and wonder if the cd would hit the shifter when in park.it looks great. I like the Idea of the head unit low.

I just tested and the cd can't be removed when in R, 1, 3 or 5. It ejects okay, but you can't quite get it out of the HU.

thanks for the quick info. i think (for me) that will be an inconvenience with an automatic.

I love the Basslink. It has an impressive amount of bass. It won't bother the neighbors much, but it will shake the rearview. A couple things that I really like about it:1-Remote level control. Installed this in the dash by the security light. I always turn it all the way down when kids/wife are in the car. 2-Allows for RCA and speaker level inputs. I just t-tapped into the factory wiring at the amp and it turns itself on when the speakers come on.3-Compact and easy to install!I highly reccomend this unit. I've had mine about a year now. I got it on Ebay for $200. There is a new model out now that has an add-on module available.
