05 Stereo Amp Bypass?

Post by sjbutane »

Hello, maybe this has been posted, but I have been looking all over and I cannot find an answer.I just put in a new JVC stereo, and when I turn it on, I get a pop. Then I get static, and even when my stereo volume is on 1 it's like it's on 5. I noticed there is an amp under the passenger seat and I have deduced it's getting amplified twice, which is causing all these problems. Am I correct, and if so is there an easy way to bypass this amplifier? Thanx!!!Steve

hello. welcome to genvibe.to answer your questions. if you want to bypass it, you can search the wiring diagram for the radio. then splice the ins and outs at the amp. this way, your radio will power up the speakers straight thru.free and easy if you know how to. or there is a noise level reducers out here. it's here. some people have it. plug and it reduces the high output your jvc is making. or maybe there is a faulty connection somewhere. my sony is straight to the amp under the seat. no reducer or bypass. works great.

A good way to blow your new headunit. You cannot do this. The M&T speakers the factory amp drives are 2 Ohm. Aftermarket head units are intended to drive 4 Ohm speakers.PWarrens's pointer to the thread on the line converter is a good suggestion.

Awesome! Seems easy enough. Seems like the FAI-3 is the same kind of unit, just without the RCA inputs on it (which aren't needed). Do you think it would make a difference? This board is awesome. Thank you for the quick responses!

Not recommended for long-term system use....

As a professional electronics engineer, I can tell you that is sooooo wrong!EDITWithout wanting to make this more of a pissing match than it is already , I want to note that although a particular headunit may be designed so it isn't damaged, when you connect an aftermarket headunit that you plunked some change down for, and that's supposed to sound good, to 2 Ohm speakers, it definitely won't perform to specifications in terms of distortion, frequency response, Watts/ch, etc. It's just not a good idea.

However, on my HU I could go in and adjust the base level of the volume down to -5. This effectively lowered the main volume minimum level. Works great now.I have the JVC KD-DV5100. Hopefully, you can adjust this on your unit also.

This is THE correct way to do what you want to do. I did it and it works perfect.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=12040Mike
