Had a slightly older mustang gt messing with me the other night and on the second try I actually beat 'em (first try I just spun my tires ). But comming home from it I started to notice a rattleing under the car. Hoping it was only a heat shield, but nope. I rapped on the catylitic (sp) converter and found the source of the rattle. Then going to the club the CEL came on. Took it in today to make sure nothing else was wrong and it was only my o2 sensor reading bad emissions. All well I was actually expecting this to happen and was planning on getting the mid pipe redone anyways.Anyway, I went back to the guy that hooked me up with an o2 sensor bung for my celica header for $20 and he said if I can get the parts I want he'll give me a custom exhaust (mid pipe) for under $100.Now, where can I find a high flow cat. converter, an exhaust flange to go to the collector of the header and stainless steel tubing. Also, should I go with a resonator or straight pipe to the borla exhaust?

Magnaflow sells high flow cats. The cheapest place for stainless tubing would be a junk/recycling yard, a place that sells old doors, windows, plumbing stuff. I would definately put on a resonator or you will probably get a really annoying raspy sound.
What code did they pull, and where did you bring it, and what did they charge? Was it the front, or rear sensor. My CEL came on once, and Autozone said it was a sewnsor, but couldn't tell which one.
I took it into the GM dealership. Can't remember the exact number code but it said something like O2 reading poor emmissions or something like that. And it was the second O2 sensor behind the cat.you can go to a lot of places to have it read, but the dealership was able to tweek the sensor to make sure it wouldn't mess up my air/fuel ratio cause the 2nd senor was reading poor signals.

Try it with the straight pipe first. If it is too loud then add a resonator later. They are pretty cheap. I just had my 12"x3.5" resonator swapped you with a new 24"x4" resonator to decrease my low rpm rumble. Now it is perfect. Only $35.

Here's a little update on whats becoming a 'saga'. I've been to 3 muffler shops that advertise 'We do custom exhaust'. So far EVERY ONE has been giving me a hard time with making a custom mid pipe for me. The first guy said he'll do anything I want but I have to come up with the parts. Second guy, his co-worker told me he'd do anything. Turns out he basicly REFUSED to do anything other then OEM replacement cuz he didn't want to be liable for anything. He also told me that adding a s/c is technicly illeagal not to mention everything else I did. (Dude, we're in Wisconsin!) He was the one with the stainless and mandrel bender too.Third guy has a strong dislike for catalytic converters. He's convinced that I'll just burn out any cat (high flow or other) cuz i'm running to much fuel. I asked him about a larger pipe thinning out the ratio a little, but he doesn't believe that will happen. He suggests just using a straight pipe and also told me that all I had to do for emissions testing was pay $50 for an exemption. So I'm considering that with a resonator. Only problem is the CEL being on. But I heard something about a sensor attachment that fools the o2 sensor into reading ok emissions and keeps the CEL from going on. Any one know anything about this? Lastly, did anyone get the JP Performance midpipe? How can you order one, I can't find it on thier website or anywhere?Sorry this was a long post. Been a long afternoon.

[Update]Well, brought the car in Tues. got it up on the lift and the guy saw that it would be a little more difficult to do so he didn't do anything except leave a message on my machine. Took it back Thurs. after working out a plan and he hollowed out the first cat (the one that actually blew), then cut out the second cat (it was clogged SHUT from the deris of the first cat.) Then added 2 1/2" tube from the first cat to the stock resonator and added an O2 bung. Then another 2 1/2" tube from the resonator to the Borla 'axle back'.He hade me start it up while trying to hide a grin on his face. Yeah the car is LOUD AS HELL! But it flows really well! Absolutly no restrictions. At first, powerwise, it was like driving with the new borla. really slugish at first. And after the second day of driving it the ECU has learned to work with it. Now it runs even stronger then before and the fuel curve has leaned out to show only 2-4 bars in the rich side. And I was able to beat another Mustang GT (black one this time). This one had some exhaust work done to it. It sounded sweet! Unfortunatly, I had to reinstall the stock muffler until I get another straight through muffler installed on Tues. It's just way to loud from only missing the 1 cat and hollowing out the other!!
