Torrent in the family?

Post by McVibe »

Well my dad recently bought a Buick Rendezvous and he's not too pleased with it (he finally realized it was ugly). So he went to the car dealership to browse around and he saw a new Torrent and likes it a lot. This Torrent we saw was different than all others in the fact that it was the first one made. The dealer said it was the one that was in the commercials and everything VIN: 2CKDL63F566000001Let's just say I like this car a whole lot better than his Buick

That definitely is better looking than the Rendezvous! But I have that vehicle to thank for me getting my Vibe! A guy owned my Vibe, and worked for my dealership driving cars back and forth. He apparently drove a Rendezvous back from Omaha and LOVED it, so he bought that and traded the Vibe for it. The owner of the dealership knew I loved the Vibe so he let my dad know it was there--that was right about the time my car was dying a slow and painful death, so it worked out great for me! But I definitely think your dad made the right decision to go with the Torrent--those are sweet!

While the Rendz is still better looking then the aztek, the Torrent looks WAY better then both. Good decision.

Tell Dad congratulations. I had one of those for a week as a loaner when my tranny died. As an avid SUV hater/basher/whatever, damn I was impressed! It was very comfortable, roomy, nice smooth ride, smooth and torquey engine, and oh so quiet on the highway! The build quality is top notch too. I was depressed when I learned I had to go bring the thing back and pick up my bucket of bolts. Everything was great except for the fuel economy. Upper 20's would have been nice.

Good decision. i agree with Mav on the Torrent but id have to say the Aztek was a way better ride and way better looking than that Rondezvous thing. the reason is that 2 years ago me and my family to a 3-4week out of state (Texas) vacation to Florida then up to Mass, NH, and Rhode Island. in rhode island we rented the Aztek and that thing was just as comfortable as the Vibe and i was really pleazed with how it felt, it was way better than i expected of it.--ohh and your dad made the right choice too

TERRIBLE interior design. it looks like the exterior of the izusu vehicross. either way, the RAV's have ALWAYS been ugly. this one is no surprised.the torrent is a much better ride.

The Torrent is a great choice! I've liked it since I first saw it. After reading ColonelPanic's review, I drove one. It really is an amazing vehicle, and as CP, I'm not a fan of SUVs. As much as I want one, I am having mixed feelings about driving an automatic - I've driven stick shift for the past 11/12 years. Plus the Vibe GT is a rare beast indeed.

Having VIN #000001 would be interesting, but probably only of significant monetary value if you parked it in a museum for the next 25 years. But who knows, by then all fossil-fueled vehicles may be in museums! Now if it was '06 Solstice #000001 or '09 Camaro #000001, THEN you're talking $$$
