Hi there, I just recently had my catalytic converter replaced on Jan. 6. Ever since then i have had an anoying rattle . It's hard to located but it seems to be coming from the front passenger side. After driving the car for a few minutes you start to hearing an annoying squeel; like nails on a chalk board. It seems to only do it while braking or accelerating. I brought the car back to the shop yesterday but they said they could not locate it. The mechanic did say he heared the sound briefly. He described it like a cat screaming. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm probably going to bring it back to the shop on Monday because I cant stand the sound. Thanks for any help.Chris

Well I brought my car in yesterday for the same problem. The mechanic took a drive with me and agreed that there was something wrong. As it turns out they did not put an exhaust seal on the coverter . They said it didnt come in the box with the cat so they didnt put it on. They ordered the part and it was put on my car today. No more sounds!!!

My dealer in Durand, Michigan installed a new catalytic converter a year or so ago, per the TSB. When I got home I looked under the Vibe and noticed a bracket hanging down. I immediately returned to the dealer and they completed what had not been done. The repairman acknowledged his mistake and apologized. I could tell he really felt bad about it, so that was good enough for me.In short, they make mistakes like all the rest of us. When those mistakes are acknowledged and corrected, all is well. With you, it sounds as though after they tightened down everything, that something in that system is now too close to a part of the underbody. They can easily correct this, providing they look closely and admit it.
