28 and 32 on your AWD? What did you mean by a new cat converter???? I have been getting about 23 MPG in town with my AWD. Do you think there is something wrong with my car? Thanks
I drive all highway, all the time, so my mileage is going to be high.I had a defective catalytic converter. It was replaced under warranty with a new one. That's why I kept/keep Nazi-like records of my fuel ... GM blamed me buying cheap gas for buggering up the first one.I would think your car is fine, getting 23 MPG in town. There's a lot of other threads on fuel economy, and I'm pretty sure 23 MPG in town for an AWD is about average. I think maybe silverawd26 might be the best one to talk to about this; does a lot more "city driving" than I do.

So what are people getting for a full tank? I've got a GT and get anywhere from 320 to 350 miles per tank. Is that low? The car's only got 4000 something miles....it's not even broken in yet. Desibtw. I got the sports package, I wonder if the pseudo spoilers are different.

Hi dsegundo,I don't think it's a good idea to let the gas level get down so low you can tell how much gas per tank you get, unless you're just estimating. I try not to let it go much below the halfway mark, sometimes to the last quarter mark. I am getting somewhere around 260 or so with about 3/4 of a tank which is around 340 to 350 per tank. It's cold here now and my mileage, like most people's drops with the temps. Also, I'm driving 75-80% in the city now so that is also a factor. In the Summer I would get 310-320 avg at the 3/4 mark or 400 or so per tank. I think I figured that right. Oh, and that's with the 2ZZ engine.Dave
Hello all you graphers...I like having the chance to see other people's mileage results in an easy to see graph. I haven't kept that detailed of information regarding my mileage but I did notice that every sequential fill-up would yield an up and down result. The graphs clearly shows that it's probably best to calculate mpg over 2 fill-ups rather than relying on what you get each individual time. Obviously, checking the mileage over weeks and months yield even more accurate results but if your driving style changes or you go into many different climates your long-term results might not be as accurate.Anywho... thanks for posting those results. Dave
Reviving the topic of fuel fill, by combining a really empty tank with a typical Ontario weekend gas price spike, I may have earned the unenviable record for the biggest buck fill in a Vibe! [although I suppose a Quebec or maybe even Alaska member may trump my thirty six dollars and change for just under 48 litres (12.7 USG)]
Hi Hope.At yesterday's exchange rate, it's a little over $US 27. (But, as predicted, I've had an IM from a Quebec member who regularly drops over $CAN 36 at the pumps when his Vibe is particularly thirsty! (as much as 81.9/L, or $US 2.34/USG )o:b
I am proud to say that on our first official fill-up we got 30.4mpg. I took my best friend's 15 year old son out in it tonight, so I am looking to not do so well next time!! Also, if anyone cares, gas is 1.75/g at best here in AL. PS Someone mentioned the ECU establishing a driving pattern. We bought this car to be a commuter car with a little style and have driven it sedately so far. Will occasional trips into the red zone screw with the ECU's "profile" for the car? Thanks,David
There are some high end vehicles which tune shift points, etc. to driving style, but not the Vibe. Mostly our ECU just learns (as do all modern cars) to correct the air/fuel mixture to the specific injector flow and other components in each car and maybe adapts the spark advance table to the fuel octane being used, to reduce the activity of the spark knock detection system.Wow, my last post on this thread was 364 days ago!

Do you think it's the winter gas or something else?
Winter driving has a BIG effect, 20% or more depending on how cold the climate. Mostly it's the added friction during the long warm up for the engine and drivetrain. Some of it is the colder air being fed to the engine (complicated story, details upon request) and some is the fact that we often let the vehicle idle at zero MPG for several minutes before driving off.

Yeah, I forgot to record the mileage a few times in that time period.I would say MadBill's reasons are pretty spot on for the drop in mileage.
