I have been reading previous threads reguarding lowering the Vibe. My question is: What else is involved other thatn swapping springs?I read something about having to trim the bump guard...what the heck is the bump guard?Any help would be greatly appreciated!Wes

bump guard = rubber stop so when your car bottoms out hard you wont snip the end of your tongue off from the jolt of metal on metal.you wont need to on a moderade drop (TRD, Eibach) but more than 1.5" means your suspension travel is moved closer to bottomed out; instead of bottoming out with lowered springs, you can trim out varying amounts of stop to "increase" suspension travel.other than that... its pretty straight forward if you're handy with wrenches.
if you have pnuematic tools, then the job is a peice of cake. You just need a spring compressor, which you can rent from autozone, and, well, yea, some basic mechanical skills (a partner may help, but i chose to do it by myself because i like to know whether each thing was done right.) Just upload instructions from here or matrixowners and you will be ready to roll, or should i say......drop
Thanks for the info! I'll do some more research for now. It will probably be a month or two before I lower my vibe anyway.
