Yes, you read it right, the deer hit me. I was traveling about 65 and i saw a deer start running across the road. If I would have hit the brakes I would have hit head on so i slammed it in third and floored it about that time i thought i was home free until WHAM!!!! it hit my rear door and the car actually fishtailed. The deer was hauling booty. I stopped and looked at the car and not a scratch, dent or anything....just blood that I wiped off. The dear on the other hand was mutilated. I could tell by the bones sticking out of its neck and the fact that it was twitching. So I proceded to pull out the 'ol trusty 1911 A! .45 and put it out of its misery. About that time a trooper pulled up and asked why I was firing a weapon at 2:00 in the morning. I showed him my MP badge and pointed at the deer and told him the story, he just laughed when I showed him the bloody rag. man that was scary drifting in a vibe. thank god for tein and high performance tires.

You're VERY lucky! You've probably read all about the suidical deer that tackled Ragingfish's new G6 back in November --> http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=19635These days, you're also lucky the cop didn't ticket you for deer hunting without a license!
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
Now that's what I call dent resistant door panels. That must have been a site to see!
2006 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER Overall...an amazing vehicle for my family and lifestyle!!! Thanks everyone for allowing me to stay on GENVIBE SPECIAL THANKS TO KAMIKAZE FOR THE NEW SIGNATURE
You did the right thing shooting the deer. Wonder why the deer didn't slow down or anything... must have been wanting to commit suicide. Glad the car is ok and drifting in the Vibe is FUN!

The same thing happened to my wife in the Vibe last winter, 6 days after I hit a deer with my truck. The deer jumped out of the ditch and bounced off the rear door. It made a small dent you could see if you looked at an angle in the sun and popped the moulding loose. The next time I washed the car I found deer hair wedged in the front fender where it meets the headlight, that's how close it was to a head-on. Around here I see at least one deer a day on the road.
That's incredible that it didn't damage the side! Once again, I hate deer, so I'm glad you killed it (removed)! Not to sound cruel or anything I just don't think deer are intelligent nor do I think they have any personality.
glad you and your vibe are heathly! i have to laugh a little at the trooper though. I dont have a gun but i have a big knife for situations like that. oh yea, hey why get a saturn with plasic door panels when theres the vibe huh?
You carry a 1911 A! kinda old school isn't? Glad you are not hurt. We have a deer crossing by my house and bam! I see hits all the time, then a wobbly deer staggering away or dropping in the snow.Cheers
well im a MP so I love the old MP style 45 with US engraved in the handle....it did scratch the door about 5 inches but it buffed out nicely. noticed it at the car wash

negative, after a hit like that the meat probably would have been all bruised and nasty anyways. The trooper called some service that cleans up road kill though....maybe they ate it.

A startled deer almost always goes forward and airborne. I slowed to about 50 when one standing on the left shoulder landed on the windshield of my 626 -- shattered the glass and crumpled the front of the roof, but it hobbled away.
