AUGUSTINE VOLCANO (CAVW#1103-01-)59.3633°N 153.4333°W, Summit Elevation 4134 ft (1260 m)Current Level of Concern Color Code: REDAt 4:44 a.m. (AST) this morning, AVO began recording seismic signals interpreted as explosions at the summit of Augustine Volcano that likely mark the onset of an eruption. The current activity may be emitting ash, steam, and volcanic gases. If the volcano follows a pattern similar to the 1976 and 1986 eruptions, we would expect a further intensification of seismic activity prior to a larger explosive event. It is also possible that an explosive eruption could occur with little or no warning.AVO is monitoring the situation closely and will issue further updates as new information and analyses become available.VOLCANO INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET: http://www.avo.alaska.edu~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Whoo hoo I knew moving to Alaska would be exciting... but I didn't want this. Hope this all blows to sea instead of inland over anchorage.

(removed) hun... it's really not that big a deal. last summer or the one before that Mt Spurr erupted again and spit out some ash. back in Aug 92, Mt Spurr errupted and spit out a crap load of ash that shut the city down for about 2 weeks. it was like snow, but pumice instead of the fluffy white stuff that melts away.i still have some filter masks left from my uppipe gutting project this summer i believe, but since you seem to be freaking out, I called my mom in WA who is right now going to Home Depot and mailing us up some more just in case. (removed). however, all the Walmarts and hardware stores are currently out of course.... and the ash that spit out isn't that much so if it does come this way, I doubt it'd be near as bad as '92 where we had 3" of pumice everywhere.

like i stated before, even if it did come this way, it's much much smaller in comparison to the Mt Spurr eruption back in 92. It wasn't that big of a deal, in fact it was rather cool (except having to wear the goofy masks).
