Sound/Audio Went out for no apparent reason, please help!

Post by DesignVHL »

So one day my car stereo was working just fine & dandy. I came home from work, turned off the Vibe...The very next day, I go to start her up, and the Stereo is on. The stations come through, the cd spins, the display works....but NO SOUND at ALL! No hissing of the speakers even. I'm assuming I have some type of an electrical issue or something. I opened the panel up to see if a wire came loose but I didn't see anything.Has this been an issue in Vibes before, and is there a way for me to fix this myself? OR should I bring it in? I'd rather not spend the $$ if I can do it myself, I am handy. Thanks!Valerie

I'm thinking the same as the other guys, have a look at the fuse for the amp... I've got the owner's manual open here on the fuse page as I type this, looks like the AMP fuse joatmon referred to can be found in the underhood electrical center (over on the driver's side.) Hopefully it is something simple like that and if the fuse is blown, you can replace it without it blowing again immediately... And not something like what happened to my car, and the stereo/amp/whatever freaks out and blows all of your speakers. That wasn't fun! Welcome aboard and good luck to you.

Thanks for the replies and warm welcome! YES YES I do have the moon & tunes package. I'll def. pop the hood and check out that fuse! Hopefully that will solve my problem. I can't see how all my speakers would have gotten blown out though. If so, wouldn't I have heard some type of a popping noise?

seems too odd to believe all six speakers would get blown so bad they mae absolutely no sound.if it is the AMP fuse, then you're lucky because that one is in the easily accesible fuse block under the hood. There is a second fuse block inside, up under the left side of the dash that is a pain to get to. There is probably a spare fuse in the underhood fuse block, if you use one, be sure to get another to have as a spare at some point.

All fixed! Thanks again for the responses. It was the amp's fuse...did a quick replace and I was back in business! Luckily I didn't have to go pick up a #30 fuse, my boyfriend already had a spare from his car!
