Exhaust Question

Post by djb383 »

The cat is located immediately after the manifold and between two O2 sensors. What are the other two expanded sections in the pipe (one about 6" long and one about 18" long) between the cat and the muffler? Thanks.

There is a second cat and a resonator.

I'm almost positive we only have one cat. When I removed my header, I disconnected the midpipe. That first 'bulge' was just a can with a divider plate in the middle. It's supposed to increase torque. That second bulge is the cat and the long bulge after that is the resonator.

I'm confused. The 'bulge' just after the manifold and between the two O2 sensors is not a/the cat?

the first bulge is hollow with a divider plate running the length of the can. It channels the air flow as it's coming through the header runers. The second bulge is the actual cat.
