Help Me...can't find DRL module...Too many wires

Post by PHXLavaVibe »

First off...I searched for any topics related to DRL and now I am lost, dazed and confused! I crawled undr my dash and saw a whole bunch of wires and several modules......Which one is the DRL? Prior posts say it is just above the Brake pedal. Unless I am completely blind I don't see it! Is it supposed to be on the front part where the brake petal is or on the back side near the fuse box? I want to be absolutly certain before I go cutting wires!!! Can someone get me a pic clearly pointing out which module I need? Are there any other sure ways to disable the DRL without causing problems?

Thanks, I've seen that picture but it doesn't help me. I need to see it's location. All the modules look the same to me and there are quite a few of them under my dash.

Lay on your back and put your head right in front of the brake pedal and look straight up.

Thanks for the help guys! I finally broke down and wedged myself under the dash, found the DRL Module and clipped the yellow wire. The whole process took me well over an hour and I ended up pulling a muscle in my neck. I hate working above my head...but atleast my DRLs are disabled. I believe the hardest part was getting the DRL portion of the yellow wire attached to the mounting screw for Grounding purposes.

Hate to say it, but if you wanted to disable the DRL completely, you could have just pulled the sensor from the dash and disconnected the wire.

On my car, disconnecting the light sensor gives me DRL, but disables the automatic headlights. I get the half dim lights up front and no tail lights, unless I use the light switch to go full on, but I still do get the DRLs.

I hooked up a switch to turn DRLs on/off, but now that it's winter, most of my driving is in the dark, so I leave it all on and take advantage of the auto headlights.

so thats all there is too it, just clip the yellow wire and hook it to ground to get rid of the DRL ? sounds too easy to be true. LOL

Well, as far as I know that's all it takes. It's not that easy though! first off you have to find that damn yellow wire, then try to wedge your arm and wire cutters in the tiny cramped space just so you can cut the wire. Then you have to strip the end of the wire that hangs from the Module and try to hold it in place under the grounding screw. Finally you have to try and find the remaining end and tape it with electrical tape or cap it off. keep in mind that you are basically standing on your head the whole time.
