Who else has a pack of dogs at home? It is feeding time here at Casa Konabri and the stupid freaking pecking order here is not working. I have a dumb basset hound, a hungry boxer and a great dane puppy. All have different nutritional needs. The dane needs to be on puppy food for another 2.5 months to finish growing properly, the boxer is kinda heavy and needs to go on diet dog food, and the basset is a tad underweight and just needs to eat regular food. Here where things get tricky: The basset is the alpha dog in the pack, and growls away the dane from his puppy food (yes, it is a hillarious sight to see). The basset eats the puppy food, or just leaves it uneaten. This makes the dane eat the basset's food, and he isn't getting the nutrients or quantity of food that he needs. The boxer will eat anything, and often eats the unattended puppy food, contributing to his weight problem. Argh!
Gotta love having more than one dog! I had the same problem with my dogs. The only thing you can do is seperate them during their feeding times. I go with set feeding times so it made it easy, but now that my Italian Greyhound is full grown, it doesn't really matter.

Mr. Poopypants, great post. That is exactly what I would do. Now that my male lab has diabetes http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=20575 he is on Hill's prescription dog food. I have to watch him so he won't eat my other lab's food. As you can see, my labs have a great life.

I'll find a pic. Mine is sprite and nimble. Seriously, she is the best runner out of my other goofballs and pretty quick. Not so much with bursts of speed but she has endurance. I regularly take her on 5+ mile runs with me and she loves it.
