can anyone recommend a good inexpensive rca cable?

Post by dave9382 »

Can anyone recommend a good rca cable that is super expensive. I dont wanna drop the crazy money for 2 monster rca cables to my new multichannel amp but I want something that is good and shielded and will give me a nice cleansound to my amp (about 15-20 feet long). If anyones gotta a link to a website that would be great. Also, will just any shielded speaker wire work of 18gauge or is there a particular brand or type I can get for extra clarity. I don't wanna mess up my system with crappy wire when Ive spent good money on everything else.So anybody have any recommendations that would be great. Thanks,David

people who buy monster cable, you know what i call them?? a stupid monster. if you are looking for expert sound.. try radio shack. they have gold plated rca cables for about 24$.

You really want something that has a twisted cable in it. The gold plated RatShack stuff isn't really great for cars. I mean, it's okay, but it doesn't have the 'noise' resistance.Tsunami, Lightning Audio, Stinger.. look around online for some. In stores they'll all be uber expensive.Speaker wire doesn't matter as much as the RCA. The speaker wire has amplified signal whereas the RCA does not, so most of the 'noise' you get in systems is from junky RCAs.Crutchfield, discountcarstereo.com, etc..

ok one more quick question.my headunit has 2 sets of preamp outputs one 2 channel for the sub woofer and one 4 channel for a multichannel ampmy new multichannel amp has one 2 channel output for chaining a subwoofer onto itis it just as good if i use a short rca cable to chain my subwoofer amp to the multichannel amp as it is to run it all the way up to the headunit?that way I will only have to buy one extra rca cable as opposed to 2 ( as right now I have 1 15" rca cable previously running to my sub amp from my headunit and I have a 3 or 4 foot monster rca cable laying around I could use to chain)is that way just as good Jahntassa?thanks

Not really. It depends on how your radio works, and btw, each two RCA jacks is considered a 'Pair'. So in your case, you'd have three pairs (sets) of RCA jacks. Two for sub, two for front, two for rear. If you daisy chain through the 4 channel, you lose all your ability to tune the sub through the headunit (if there was any), plus any control of the sub through the headunit. If you want to turn the sub down, you'd need to do it at the sub amp.If you go through the four channel, you're going to make the subs' crossover do more work, because it has to do all the filtering, instead of just low-frequency from the headunit going straight to the amp. Not bad, but again, a control issue. So you can do it either way, it just depends on if you want to be able to tune the sub easily.

ya thats what i figured. there is a seperate control for sub boost on the head unit thats about it for control...ok last question. so when im wiring through this second amp i should run its power wire down the same side of the car as my previous sub amps power wire? and run the rca cables down the opposite side where i had previous rca cables right.... then i was gonna run the speaker wire instead of directly to the speakers, run it all down the same side of the car as the rca cables (obviously) to the head unit where I was gonna tap in to the car harness.... that should work fine right?oh also how do i wire a second remote turn on... can i just split the remote wire that was running to my previous amp so it runs to both?
