How are you guys and gals up north with all the snow????

Post by shenandoah24 »

I just wanted to say that I hope all you genvibers to my north are faring well in this awful snowstorm......stay home if you can....don't drive in the mess....be careful!!!! We got tons of rain here in Tennessee....it sucks too. My apartment is right on the river, and they are talking about us having to evacuate if the waters don't recede soon. And we have to think about what the rivers will do when all the snow to our north starts to melt. I am going to board my cats tomorrow for a while, just to be on the safe side. Everything else in my home can be replaced should something happen while I am at work.....Take care everybody!!!! And be VERY VERY VERY careful if you take the Vibe out on the cruddy roads....

We were only supposed to get 1-3 inches here last night, but ended upwards to 8 inches and no power for 4 hours (in my town). So needless to say it was unexpected. 8" was nothing compared to the few feet just south and east of this area.

Absolutely no snow here. But my brother in the DC area emailed me with pictures of him digging a path to his burried SUV through 15.5" of snow. How did he know it was 15.5"? He had stuck a yardstick into the snow, and that's how much of it was burried.I too wish some of it had fallen here in KS. We're below our normal rainfall levels for the year, and a good dump of snow (or rain) would have helped considerably.KSNeptune

Having a blast, although I'm ready for spring now. LoL Our Canadian brothers need to come down here and teach some of these people how to drive in this stuff! I must have been born to drive in snow. We got 26" here. Not bad. Now, the rest of this week is suppose to be in the 40's, so now we're going to have some flooding.

We haven't got nearly that much snow here, but when we did get around 12", my Vibe handled great. 40" is a lot of snow. I wouldn't wish that on anyone! It is good to hear that the Vibe is handling it ok.

Shenandoah24:Hope your river doesn't do to you what it is doing to these poor folks in Newfoundland. What River are you on?Keep your Vibe on high ground!http://cbc.ca/stories/2003/02/17/badger030217 I am suprised no other Canadians wrote in with a snow report. We didn't get any until January! We get a lake effect, so we have to drive 10 miles from town to get any accumulation. It is snowing now, very lightly. If they didn't make snow here, the ski hills would be out of business.

We had a total accumulation of 20". Needless to say the Vibe did not leave the driveway, I spend 4 hours shoveling snow yesterday. I could not leave the driveway, the plow made a 4 foot pile of snow at the bottom of my driveway and I couldn't go anywhere if I wanted to. Thank god for XBox. Luckily I had something to do.

We got about 16 inches here in downtown Pittsburgh. People were getting stuck all over the place. Buses and large trucks were getting held up by the slippery conditions all over the place. I barely made it back onto campus on Sunday evening. It took me about 10 minutes to spin my way up the last hill to get here. I just left it in second gear and gave it about a quarter throttle. Nothing else to do except smoke the tires all the way up the hill for about a block and a half. On Monday night, we had the final championship game of our ice hockey tournament out near the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport and I had to travel about 10 miles or so on the highway out of downtown. There was what looked to be a late 70's looking Cadillac that was parked on the side of the road on the opposite side of the highway that someone must have just abandoned because they could go no further. It was so plowed in that you could not see any part of it other than the front grille and headlights. It was covered all the way over the roof so that you could hardly tell that it was a big car rather than a huge mound of snow. A state trooper was there with a tow truck and I guess they were trying to figure out how to get it out. It was gone when I passed that point on the return trip, so they got it out somehow. And we won the league championship that night, too!
