Stumbling Engine

Ok so i got my car back from the dealership and since it is only about 8 blocks from my house i hadn't noticed anything wrong with my cars revving when i took it in there. I got back to my house and the CEL was on again, and so i went out on a quick test drive to see what was wrong and i couldn't accelerate past 3000 rpm. Is this from the throttle body spacer? anytime i reach around 2950 rpm the vehicle begins to stumble and i literally cannot get past 3000 rpm i'm considering taking off the throttle body spacer tonight and see if that fixes the problem.

That would be the MAF sensor that has gone bad. Due to not disconnecting the battery during installation of the TB spacer or CAI.

hmmm... i did thoughif i disconnect the battery tonight will that help??how much and how hard would it be to replace the MAF?

Well question is did you take it to them with the CAI installed already? I don't know if your under warranty or not but if you are and they did not see the CAI, remove it, install the stock box and limp back in.I would guess the MAF is shorted, how I'm not sure. I shorted out mine somehow and can only think I did so by plugging the MAF in and then the battery. Now I do it the other way around... But still when you replace the battery, you don't unplug your MAF so... heck if I know. Last time I removed my MAF, I had the battery hooked up before plugging in the MAF.

ok now the question is the MAF is the sensor that i have installed into my intake?? i know it may sound stupid but i don't want to order a wrong part. and how hard was it to replace the MAF???

MAF is the sensor on the intake, two small screws and a wire harness is all there is to it. I know when I blew mine, I had to borrow one from an 05 because we had no stock for one in parts.... I would imagine parts departments should be stocked now.

Dealerships don't keep anything for our Vibes in stock. Make sure everything is installed correctly (MAF or spacer isn't backwards, make sure your vacuum and vsv lines are on tight and correct) and unplug your battery for an hour. Then start it let it idle (DON'T REV!) for 15 minutes. Shut it off, then take it around the block and see

I know this is way late, but I spent quite a bit of time trying to search for a pic of where the MAF is located that did at one time exist here on this site. Finally I realized it must have been in the "For Sale" section, and must have dropped off after 120 days.Anyway, I had saved that pic, so I will post here so that it may remain with this site.Also, there is a business online that sells the MAF for $15.http://www.critescore.com/maf$abs$.htm

The harness is not long enough.

when i put in my CAI i made a mark on my MAF. a arrow pointing the path direction with a grey paint pen. i think you can put it in the wrong way.

The dealership was fixing the alternator. i took it to advance auto parts and had them check the codes and then looked it up and it was the MAF so i went to the dealer to try to get them to fess up to it and they said that the work they did had absolutely nothing to do with the MAF so they wouldn't replace it, but if i would like to go to the parts section i could purchase a new one, sooo i went and they wanted170.00 to get one in next thursday, i said hmmmm and i went over to AAP and they quoted me at 78.88 by 2:30 today they could have it in store. So i went with them and now everything works perfectly and all is well within the GI JOE vibe
