Tweeterssss

Post by kerrykerrykerry »

Does anyone know if there is a part available, so that i can put component tweeters in my car? Did the moon & tunes package include separate tweeters with different housings? Hey, if you have component tweeters, could you post pics of where you placed them in your automobilia??thanks

My 05 w/Moon & Tunes has component tweeters mounted in separate compartments on the inside sail panels on the front doors. You may want to nose around in a boneyard to see if you can pick up the factory enclosures, or just mount your tweeters in the same spot. Hope this helps.
Mods: 04 center armrest, 04 Matrix AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Electrochromatic rear view mirror w/compass, GM hood protector, Ventvisors on doors and moonroof, one-touch close moonroof. added 12v outlet in console, Goodyear TripleTred tires, Sirius satellite radio.

I mounted my tweeters in the non M&T sail panels, and they fit. Things are a little tight, so you'll want to check things with your particular tweeters before cutting. I checked mine by pulling off the sail panel, placing the tweeter cup behind the panel, and replacing the sail panel. For the rears, I mounted the tweeters immediately forward of the door handle.BTW, I have Polk db6500 components. Sorry, no pics available.

thanks a lot. That was exactly what I needed. Those little panels just pop off, right? You did a good job on putting those in.

quick question, on matrixowners i was suggested to put my tweeters in the A-pillars and have them aimed towards each other, thustly creating a better all around sound. Is this fact or fiction? Does anyone know? Has anyone done this?

I put then in the A Pilllars on a Plymonth I had many years ago. Sonically that is really the best place to put them, in level with your ears as the Hi's tend to be very directional. I aimed them into the car, not towards each other. The tweeter in the left is going to be alot closer to you that the one on the right, so you'll have to adjust the balance . They are more obtrusive there also. I have the Moon & Tunes package my Vibe and the placement in the sail pannels is a good compromise. They don't stick out, in fact I drove the car for a week before I noticed that they were there.
