Does the Vibe digital thermometer read negative Farenheit?

Post by Gandalf »

This morning it was -5F when I left the house. The radio said so, as did both of my indoor/outdoor thermometers. But the thermometer on the Vibe said 0F. I realized there have been a few other times when it's been below zero, and the display read 0F as well; although I didn't know exactly the temp those times; often the temp you get on the radio is off; sometimes quite a bit, depending on how often they update. So, anyone from Alaska or Canada seen -F numbers on their Vibe? BTW: my Vibe is an '05, and this is it's first winter.

i don't have an answer for you, but i honestly hope i never have to find out for myself. i do know that my thermometer always tends to read a few degrees warmer than the others i see around town (on banks and what not).

In my lifetime in Columbus, OH I can remember an unusual -20 degrees F. I think it was on Christmas eve perhaps 25 years ago.

Come to think of it, it probably was not that long ago as I remember that my new furnace could not keep up with the 90 degree difference outside/inside. We got a smaller unit in terms of btu output because it was more efficient but we knew that in the rare event that it got that cold we could not heat the house to 70 degrees. Running virtually all the time it kept the house at about 65 degrees.

Gosh I am glad it doesn't get that cold around here. It rarely snows around here and sometimes when it does snow it'll be like once in april or march. It's always funny when people from the north come to TN and we are complaining about it being cold and they say this weather is warm or comfortable for them.
