Hidden charger?

Post by JenniRedd »

Hey everyone!! I didn't even realize our Vibes had a hidden cellphone charger till about a month ago when i read it somehwere on the internet and then a few days ago I was gonna use it but there was nothing there but an empty hole. Has anyone else discovered this problem and who should i see to get it fixed?

2005 Vibes and later do not come with the accessory socket.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=13711 is an excellent how-to on installing one.

I think they may have quit putting those in after they changed the center cosole design in 2005? Someone knows I'm sure. Help me out here!

If you have him wire it for you, get him to wire it to a circuit that is live even with the ignition turned off. The '03 to '04 Vibes which had the socket installed only worked with the key turned on as with the cigarette lighter.

I have an 05 and it didn't have an outlet, only a cover, so I went back to the dealer and said that the manual indicated an outlet in the console, so they put one in for free.Give it a shot!!

What's stupid about it - is that Pontiac has left the wiring, fuse, and hole for this outlet... only deciding to not install the socket. Instead to plug the hole with a rubber stopper.Mine got shorted by a dime that fell into it... but it's on it's own fuse so it didn't affect the other 12V outlet in front of the shifter. Not the easiest fuse to change out - maybe that's the reason behind it. Too many dealer charges to replace that #@^$'ing fuse.
