This works great and it is easy. With engine off, pull the parking brake up ONE CLICK ONLY. Start engine and DRLs will be off, manual light switch will be functional. I jacked the rear of my Vibe up just to see if brakes were engaged - they were not. Remember, just ONE CLICK up on the parking brake but you may want check to make sure your brakes are not dragging.

FYI: This doesn't work with a manual trans.I still recommend clipping the red/white wire from the drl box. It's much easier on your rear brakes.
HiIt works with the GT manual tranny. I do this occasionally(when I remember) when I just want to drive with fogs (did the neg wire mod under the steering column) or when I'm driving a long distance in the day-time.Dave
Well, like I said, I jacked my Vibe up just to check and my brakes don't drag at one click up and you would probably find yours don't either, but check just to be safe. No cut wires and no problems. Also, I think the DRLs are a good idea and I can think of only one time each year I will need to have the DRLs off - our Christmas parade of lights in which you drive through our neighborhood after dark with only your park lights on so you can enjoy the Christmas lights. (How politically incorrect - I used the word Christmas twice, oops three times. Lets go all out - MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone and that's four times!)
I have done the same thing a few times. It is nice to be able to turn off the DRLs without having to cut anything. But the "Brake" light stays on though. That's the only annoying thing.
My Fleet:
'15 Ford Fusion AWD Titanium 2.0 Tutbo
'14 Lincoln MXZ AWD 2.0 Turbo
'14 Nissan Pathfinder AWD SL
'05 Pontiac Vibe AWD
Just think of it just like the green "lights on" light. Once you get used to it and know why it's on, it's not so much of an annoyance. What I've done is completely blocked out the sensor so the lights turn on all the time. Figure it's safer and much less annoying than having the full lights turn off and on all day. The brake now gives me control as to when I have the lights on or not. Actually, I usually (not always) run the Parking/Fogs when I pull the e-brake so I stll have lights. Just not the headlights A lot more versatility in the choices for what lights are on or not that way
i like having them when im driving, its just when im parked and the car is running do i wan them off sometimes. i think its a great safty feature to have them on while driving.

I did this for several reasons. It was something to do. I've only done token minor mods to my car, this one was pretty easy and has been done by enough people that it is well tested. Sometimes the mod bug catches you. I'm thinking about doing the foglights on demand mod too, just to do something else. Keeps the enthusiasm for the car alive. I know it's a really minor mod, but it's still something. I like to be able to unflash other vibers. Instead of hitting them with high beams to say "hello fellow viber" I unflash them by turning off and back on the headlights. Nobody gets it, but I keep trying Probably the main reason is that sometimes I have to go through a security gate and the guards get pissed if you don't turn off the headlights when approaching. Now I can. It is almost always a good idea to not (removed) off secuity guards.Pulling the parking brake one notch probably won't hurt the rear brakes, but for me that small probablility that it would, or that I'd get used to the brake light in the dash being on that I'd drive with the brake engaged makes it not worth it. Maybe if I had an auto tranny, I probably wouldn't use the parking brake as much, but with the manual tranny I use the parking brake a lot.
