brake click when in park?

Post by meistees »

I have an 04 automatic and I noticed when I'm in park and put my foot on the brake it makes a loud click behind the front compartment under the shifter.. Usually my stereo is up way too loud so maybe it has always been like this.. also it seems like my e-brake handle is sort of loose

Might want to see if it needs to be tightened... I know I've already had to check my e-brake cables and they do need to be replaced soon on my '03 6SPD. Not trustworthy on hills anymore.

I think all automatics do this - you have to have your foot on the brake in order to shift from park

djb383 is right. The click is the relay under the dash which allows you to shift out of park only when the brake pedal is pressed.
