Alright so the problem here is my brother tried to update his server and it crapped out my blog, so i have no "posting" or "soapbox" abilities! Anyway this past month has been a rough one career wise. My boss quit. I've filled in for her on maternity leave. We both thought I would for sure get her job. Hmmm... well you can see where this is going. Nope they hired an external person to come in and learn all of our ISO 9001 processes and lead the team. So for weeks I was pretty pissed. I have been on the team for the longest at 5.5 years and as I said, filled in for her on maternity leave. Considered quitting. But I am being moved to an assistant project leader role so I don't have to report to the new boss which makes me very happy. I despise having someone above me that I have to instruct on how to do their job. In my opinion my company handled it quite crappily. I thought that my performance during the maternity leave fill in had sucked because they were hiring externally. I was told after they hired, that no, they value me, blah blah blah. Why don't they tell this to you when you're sitting there in the "big boss'" office trying to sell him on hiring you for the job. Instead he just sits there and stares and me and basically says thanks. Oh and to top all this off, I'm apparently not good enough to be the manager, but I'm good enough to handover to the new manager!? Because there was about a week gap between my boss leaving and the new manager coming in.Anyway thats my story. i can't wait for my blog to come back!

Yeah well once I realized they had posted the job on the internet, I went into the "big boss'" office and told him that I earned the job, I know the job, I've done the job etc etc. Guess it didn't work but at least I can't regret not doing anything about it and sittin' on my (removed) waiting for the to hand it to me!

IMHO, when an employer sends you this kind of a signal, it's time to start looking for another job.Doesn't mean you HAVE to change until you find something MUCH better, but go ahead and update your resume, etc. etc., and BEGIN LOOKING... These jerks obviously don't deserve you, and YOU deserve people and compensation MUCH better than you're getting where you are. If you DO find something and leave quickly, they'll REALLY be 'up a creek', because no one will know what the new manager is supposed to do or how!
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

She was told that management felt that because she had been there that the other employees would never look at her as the boss. They also told her that the position had been reclassified and they were looking for a higher degreed person. She was in the same shoes as you, having to train the new person. She turned in her resignation effective the day the new person started. Last time I heard, they were suffering and trying to talk her into coming back. She has a better job and is treated with dignity, she won't be going back.
Just because you see Charlie doesn't mean I am a he....sometimes Charlie can be a she!!!!

But I actually enjoy where I am. I hate the way I got screwed, but my coworkers are awesome and I hardly ever have to work overtime which is rare in high tech companies. So there are benefits where I am... but just in case, my resume is now completely up to date.

So while I'm relatively happy in my current position at work (although yeah I could be happier), and I'm not actively seeking new employment, I just submitted my resume to an employer here who's hired over 6 former employees of my current employer. There was one position I could have applied for directly, but I just wanted to submit a general resume and see what happens. Kind of like passively looking for a job I guess you could say. I'm not sure I want to leave my job, yet I might want to see whats out there.
