wiring a 2 channel amp to a DVC sub

Ok I have a 2channel 500 watt rockford fosgate amp...its specs are125 W x 2 @ 4 Ohms RMS250 W x 2 @ 2 Ohms RMS500 W x 1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMSie it has 2 +s and 2 -s for wiring (have bridged before but that was with Single voice coil)now the sub i am looking at getting the Alpine type R only comes as a duel voice coil (with an RMS of 500 watts)it comes in either a 2ohm,2ohm DVC version or 4ohm,4ohm DVC version. 1. Which version of the sub should I get for maximum performance, power,and what is the best way to wire itI figured if there is a better way to wire it Id better figure it out now before I buy the sub so I can choose either the 2 ohm or the 4 ohm DVC version.Can I just run the 2 channel amp in parallel to the 4ohm DVC version of the sub, the 2 +s to the 2+s and the 2-s to the 2-s? Would that be the best way to give me the max power? Can you even do it this way?Thats the best way I can think of but what would be better, I obviously wanna work at 2x250 at 2ohms or bridge it 1 X 500 at 4ohms (but I dont know how you wire that into a duel voice coil)Thanks in advance

You really -really- want to run it in bridged mode. Having two seperate channels going into the same sub could lead to different power levels and you could potentially hurt the sub.

ok how do i do that exactly, i obviously know how to do it with a SVC sub but what do i do with the extra voice coil. So I should get the 4 ohm version of the sub right?

With a DVC sub you'd have to wire it in series.Have the negative from one channel of the amp (it'll be marked for bridging) to one of the coils. Run a wire from the + of that coil to the - of the other coil, then run the positive of the second coil to the + of the bridge on the amp. That'll give you a 4 Ohm load which will work with the bridging.

thanks guys i get it now. So that is the best way to do it and I should get the 4ohm version of the sub not the 2 ohm version right??

wait so this diagram here shows the wiring configuration your talking about but that is witha 2ohm,2ohm duel coil sub look at option 2 at http://www.cardomain.com/shop/...&y=11So im guessing I just get the 2 ohm version of the sub???

Yeah, the Dual Voice Coil 2 Ohm. That'll give you more options down the road if you decide to upgrade anything, as well.
