gas due to needed tsb

Post by coldmm803 »

over the past few weeks i began to get the sulfur smell. as a college student away from home, i cant wait till break to get it done. my last half tank was 17 mpg these were all city miles, about 106 on 6.2 gal, almost as bad as the truck i traded for this. on highways to go home i normaly get from 36-40 depending on how heavy my foot but the last trip was 32.

Yeppers... It will only go downhill too. I ended up with a low of 16 MPG HIGHWAY with mine back when I was having similar issues.. I feel your pain, I was getting the gas mileage of a truck with less power than a lawnmower. Is it possible to find a dealer nearby to do this? As long as you're under factory warranty, any Pontiac dealer can do the repairs. Perhaps you can get a loaner/rental for the day as well... Try to find a way to get it fixed as soon as you can... Trust me, it isn't much fun otherwise. Good luck to you!

if you have a BP gasstations in your area try and use them in the meantime... they have less sulfur content in their gas and it might help you out a small amount.before my cat change i did notice a small reduction in sulfur smell while usuing BP gasalso in the colder weather smells linger and travel farther than normal so you can tell when some else is burning a bit much sulfur in their gas.

Finally got a call back with some info re this overdue part. Reading between the lines I get the impression that GM is starting from scratch re this part. Dealer has no idea when it will come his way....I wonder if the Matrix is with similar circumstances.
